Raider83 joe-dude667 Raider83 HA! Wait til you get chord construction...its like reading advanced mathematical equations. No really.
The two main things that helped me learn some of the theory is 1. Take it slow...don't move on until you've understood the topic at hand. (Other wise you'll get cluttered with questions and no answers). Sometimes I had to read some stuff VERY SLOW and repeatedly to finally make sense of it. 2. Know the difference of learning something on paper and something in practice (example; pitch intervals, notating guitar playing techniques, ect)
Most important of all tho end every session with just jamming and playing what sounds good. Too many people get wrapped up in the theory and lose the whole idea of what music is. I don't rely heavily on theory anymore because I decided to play from the heart/soul and not be bound by rules aka theory smile If you need help though just ask and I can prolly help. I've had lessons in theory and in advance maths, so believe me when I tell you, theory is piss. Lol. But seriously I found theory really easy to grasp. Thing is I found it really interesting and enjoyed learning about it, so I guess that helped a lot. My main influence is the Deity that is Mr John Anthony Mutha Fuking Frusciante. Or if it comes to acoustic it's Justin King hands down (not that I don't love JF's acoustic stuff). You mean theory is yellow and stinky? or did you mean theory is a byproduct of drinking too much beer? didn't really get that...
But if you have the two classes theory and advanced math, then anyone could make sense of it. Not really a shocking revalation there. Its like saying yeah I can rewire your whole house AFTER I take alllll the classes I need to know what to do. But then again maybe you're a self proclaimed prodigy child. I'm no prodigy so theory didn't come as second nature to me. I did end up making sense of it, but I wouldn't go around telling people its simple.
Oh and to the girl taking lessons-you should be the one to remind your teacher that you had to practice, otherwise you aint getting any benefit from the classes and you (or your parents) are just wasting your money. Seriously mate what's your problem? We haven't even got onto the 2nd page and you've insulted 3 people. You need to relax a little bit and realise that this is an internet forum. Not only that but an internet forum targeted at an adolescent audience. I personally think you need to grow the hell up. All I'm saying is that if you put in some time and effort, theory isn't that hard. Once you learn one thing, it's easier to grasp the next thing you learn, and once you learn that it's easier to grasp the next thing you learn (so on and so forth). It's not simple, but it's like all things. If you put some effort into it, it doesn't take long to learn.

My main teacher is feeling. My insperation comes from life. My sound comes from an ecclectic goo of society and nature alike...
This, however, physically manefests in the form of humans. So I figer I'll follow the trend and list my favorates.
I started thinking I'd make avi's of them...

I quickly realised that I only had enough clothes to make Slash, so I desided to draw them on paint instead...

After Completing the vertuoso section (ommiting Gilbert and Bato and adding the legand Mustaine), I could'nt be bothered anymore to make anymore, or find the pictures for any of my other earthly infulences, so I just wrote some of their names...
As forementioned, Gilbert and Bato Vertuoso styles as a general... UMMM pretentious J.S Bach... some of his stuff REALLY goes well to guitar Bob Marley Andy Mcknee Zakk Wilde Kirk Hammet Django Reinhardt B.B King Robert Johnson Eddy Van Halen The Spirit of funk... you know what I'm getting at
As a general though, I tend to be influenced by styles, picking up techniques I hear as I go, rather than inderviduals. These are just particulars that I find directly enjoyable to play, or insperational to listen to.
Man, what a slow day

LOL those look super realistic! great job!
oh and who ever that duche was that now wants to reverse himself to try and take a crack at me- *clap* way to fail. first you wanna come off as if you're hot sh*t because you claim its easy or wait ..its "piss" and now you wanna go back and explain everything to say EXACTLY what I said. Second, my posts weren't taken the way they were intended, thats just the nature of the internet. Thats why sarcasm doesn't work here. Accept the one about you. that WAS to trump what you said because you were comming off as a discouraging blow hard. Third, if this is for an "adolescent audience" (btw that is a condiscending comment on its own..good job again), why would I need to grow up??? You ever try thinking before you speak? least my dumb comments are funny...yours are just retarded and pointless and provokes the rolling of my eyes.. ...I think the word you're lookin for is "Doh!". Feel free to try again. lol

A few of my guitarist role models:

Tom Morello--experimenter with sound and technique

The Edge--unique and emotional

Adam Jones--not your typical guitarist

KT Tunstall--there aren't enough good female guitarists

Billy Howerdel--atmospheric and innovative
And since photos alone cannot convey the sheer passion and SEX that is Billy's guitar playing (even if you're not into guys), I present you with the following videos of his APC days:
APC - Magdalena APC - 3 Libras on Jay Leno APC - Orestes
