I actually have a friend with a halo. It was DONATED to him by a friend. He hardly lost anything because he still has Winged Anklets, an OMG hat (I think), and other expensive trinkets. DAMN HIM AND HIS KNOWING THE RIGHT PEOPLE!!!
Seriously, though, who are the right people anyways? I have a load of friends on Gaia and I've hardly gotten s**t from them!

The right people are the people who have been here from the start collecting donation letters. Since I'm questing for an OMG, and regularly check the prices, I noticed there was a guy in there selling THREE of them. If only I were friends with that guy.
I'd say the best way to quest for one of those items, is pretty much do what I did. I've been on this site over a year now, and I've spent that entire time collecting each and every item I could want. I've been through 5 different outfits, at least 7 different hairstyles, and have finally settled on this look. Now, when I began my quest, I had a whole LOT of stuff. One of the first things I did was sell off my entire inventory, of all but event items, donation items, and what I am currently wearing. The donation items have gone up on my quest thread as part of my offer, and I got well over 100k to put towards my quest. With quests like these, the hardest part is that first 100k, and I bypassed that step of trying to resist buying all the other things I want, and the push ahead in gold helps with my confidence in my ability to complete my quest. In theory, I would have the perfect outfit, and be content. But, likely as not, once I've gotten the OMG, I'll quest to get all my old stuff back. Hey, it's something to do. mrgreen
Damn, that was a long ramble. o.0

I love your avi Sickness. Its pimp. I havnt seen another like it around Gaia and thats always good. That guy selling the OMGs is going to be one rich mother ******** first quest I did was for a Kiki and I got it at only 7k now they go for like 40k, I so wish I would have bought two back when they were cheap cause I dont wanna sell mine. Same with the roro, I bought my bf one for 6k and now I have to spend 15k to get myself one. I wish I knew how to invest my gold into items that would go up in price.

Thanks for the compliment, Nikki. ^-^ I appreciate it. The difference in price confuses me! gonk Aren't they from the same letter? Would it possibly be cheaper to buy the letter if one were going for one of those two items?

Heh... in my case it's been more like accepting that certain things are beyond my means. *grins* Pretty much anything that came out before I first opened my account back in December is out of my means (thankfully I wasn't around for the price inflations and all that). I don't even think about wanting OMG's or scarves or halo's, because... well... it would take too long, and it's just not worth putting in that kinda time and effort. I'd like to think that my avie (specially when I get my cloak back) looks as good as anyone else's, even if the other person has more expensive stuff. The bulk of my avie is made up of commons.

I was surprized that I got my Horns of the Demon so quick... I remember when I first joined I thought the most expensive thing I would ever get would be the Fairy Wings...Which I never got and Im glad... the Horns are so much better.

Lady Sickness The difference in price confuses me! gonk Aren't they from the same letter? Would it possibly be cheaper to buy the letter if one were going for one of those two items? Yes, they're from the same letter, but people just like the kikis more. There's a tremendously larger demand, so the rules of supply and demand push the prices much higher. They have been jacked a bit, but I'd have to imagine they're naturally worth 30 or 40k. They're very popular. I can't imagine Roros are naturally worth more than 10k or so, considering how many you see equipped. People just think "it's from the kiki letter!", and that mindset's pushed the price up. And no. Letters values occasionally dip a little under the item values--usually when the letter is very new and there are more letters than items--but they're almost always higher, hence the price of "upgrades." Letter value is always determined by the value of the higher item. If it weren't, people would just open them and sell the item. 3nodding
