SUPER NOAH'S ARK 3-D
In this
exciting FPS, you play Noah, a man asked by God to build an ark and rescue two of every animal. But what happens when animals become angry with Noah and break out of their cages and run a muck?! Noah must put them down! Bible style!
As Noah, with sling shot in hand, you must run through the many levels of the ark and
kill..... pacify the animals by putting them to sleep by shooting them with nuts and grain. As you go through the ark, you realize that there are more than two sheep or two goats. DAMN THESE ANIMALS BREED FAST. As you run through the ark, you will notice fruit like grapes, watermelon, etc. These are for the bigger, stronger, "bosses" of the game... like Ernie the Elephant and Carl the Camel.
The gameplay in this game is actually fun, despite the setting, story, etc. And the gameplay should be fun (see "Interesting Facts", point #2). If you like running through mazes (as opposed to walking a straight line/doing what a game WANTS you to do), dark corridors, and old-school FPS's in general, you might like this game, despite its plot/representation. There are long ways and short ways through the many levels of the ark, and SNA: 3D even allows the option for you to input certain codes to edit/change around the floor plan.
There are a couple bad points, however. The gameplay, despite being fun, gets repetitive at points. When you die (which will be often, due to the fact you start with 38% health and not the usual 100%), you start back at the original starting point. ALL animals are awake, and you have to re-feed them. For some reason, you keep your score. Another bad point of the game is that you don't get to see the "bullets" fly. This means, it is somewhat difficult/annoying to shoot an animal unless you are RIGHT next to it, and in most cases, taking damage. You die incredibly fast a lot, yet there are only two animals around you.
Super Noah's Ark receives a 7 out of 10.INTERESTING FACTS+It was the only commercial SNES game that was not officially sanctioned by Nintendo. In order to bypass the SNES lockout chip, Wisdom Tree devised a system whereby the player had to insert an officially-licensed SNES game into a cartridge slot in the top of Super Noah's Ark 3D. The cartridge thus resembled a Game Genie.
+The game itself is a straightforward port of Wolfenstein 3D, with altered graphics and sounds. Instead of killing Nazi soldiers in a castle, the player takes the part of Noah, wandering the ark, throwing fruit and grain at stray animals in order to pacify them
+The level layouts, weapons, and enemy behaviors in the SNES version is identical to Wolfenstein 3D, but the graphics were changed to reflect a non-violent theme, with enemies simply going to sleep instead of dying. It is unclear whether or not the game was actually officially licensed from id Software, or simply an illegal bootleg.
+The game was not a commercial success, suffering from the lack of major marketing common to other Wisdom Tree titles. It was most commonly found in Christian bookstores.
