OK so I want to start making my second jsk :000
but I don't know what should make it look like...
so why not ask other lolis, right?

That's the fabric I have and just some lace because my camera changed the color a lot without a little contrast @.@
Do you guys think I should use white lace or black?
User Image
This is the pattern I'm going to be using as a base
should I keep it plain like that,
with a little lace and/or frill at the bottom?
or...

the one on the right was what I originally wanted to do but I think it looks too funky, so prolly the one on the left?
kinda based on this skirt by meta:

so I want to know what you guys think, or if you have any tips for me or something along those lines
thanks so much!

1. I Must, must, MUST know the pattern number for that....
2. I think it all depends on what 'look' you are trying to achieve. the whole black and red looks wonderful anytime. However in my mind red and white is rather christmas-sy. However done the right way it could look really pretty.

My advice, make the red under dress, frill free. then pin the frills on place to get sort of an idea of what it is going to look like in the end. that way you can decide without having to sit there for hours ripping ruffles off your dress if you don't like it in the end. if you like it you can just sew it in place. at least that's how I'd do it...

1) Leave it plain and just put the trim on the hem in between the hem and a ruffle like so:

Example skirt by a friend

Don't let too much of the trim show, however, or it'll be overpowering and probably a bit tacky.

2) When working with that pattern, BE CAREFUL. I've used it and it's also the pattern ITS uses for their Paris Kitty Jumperskirt. The bodice is fine, but the middrift is a bit odd. When you get things sewn together for the bodice, make sure you double check that it hits at your natural waist and that it lines up along where you plan to put your zipper. Make sure that the waist does not sit lower on your hips, or your skirt will end up looking strange.

Also, when you cut the skirt fabric, either use the size that is two above the one you used for the bodice, or make the skirt a simple rectangle skirt (gathered at the waist), or the hem will be too narrow for lolita and not accommodate a petticoat at all.

Something you might consider adding to give it a more lolita flare to it are waist ties in the back. You can make them detachable via buttons at the waist on either side. It'll help keep eyes from wandering over the zipper in back, y'know?
