I was doodling last Friday, when I realised a cog could be altered to form the letters 'CA' - and I thought this might make a rather fetching badge or logo of sorts.
Not content with just have the cog, I promptly set in on a winged background.

This is a finished (albeit basic) design, but by no means a finished device - I rather hope it be more interesting when I'm finished with it. Thing is, I'm not exactly sure how.

Anyways, the design:

I like it. I think it's very sharp. However, I must confess it took me a moment to find the "CA" and I wonder if I should have seen it at all if I hadn't been looking for it. Perhaps you might try picking the letters out in a separate colour? I am not very skilled at graphic design, I am sorry to say, so I haven't much else to suggest.

Yes, that was rather a fear I had - given the normally straight nature of the letter A. I doubt I'll be changing the colours though, my main idea was that they would remain as lines (or raised/embossed parts). I did want it to be subtle (the CA, that is), but perhaps it is too subtle?
Anyways, thanks for your input!

I think the "CA" would be more recognizable as letters if you left off the last cog-tooth of the A, and maybe added some weight or emphasis to certain strokes of the letters, kind of like this Art Deco font.

Other than that, I like the simplicity of it... Although the cog and the wings are pretty standard steampunk elements, the asymmetry keeps it original, and the stylized wings are a nice touch... they remind me of the pins that they used to give to kids on airplanes. XD

I agree that the CA is difficult to see. Even knowing where it is, I have a hard time seeing it as CA.

I think if the outer line of the A didn't come down so far (and so would be less round), it'd be more recognisable. As it is, it almost closes off, almost making it look like a B.

Otherwise, though, I like it. The lines that separate the C from the A and the bar across the A are also reminiscent of clock hands, which is nice.
