Chapter I: DELTA Squadron

Skipping forward in time through a whole lot of Kain's personal past that'll end up in a book just like this, Kain and a friend, Desolis, were bored as hell one night while strolling through the lands titled "Vampire Town." The name gave an obvious description of the patrons and residents of the town, but of course, there were those that didn't like their "kind." There was a single group in particular lead by a strange Psi-Ghost named Spook that lead a team of vigilantes that were hired by the town's head to keep peace: The D.E.L.T.A. Squadron. Kain, still rather under-developed and Desolis, always up for a bad idea, decided they'd pelt Spook with rocks. Before they knew it they each had rifles to their necks. Desolis escaped, but Kain wasn't so lucky. He was given two choices: Either be shot on the spot and his head mounted on the Town Head's wall or join DELTA. Kain decided to join DELTA and hated every moment of it. He soon met with another up-and-comer, Mictian C. Rose who was assigned his partner by Spook. Their first assignment was rated S-Rank by Spook: Blow up the Hayato Mansion and exterminate all Hayatos present. Kain had dealt with this clan on several occasions and barely escaped with his life more than once in fights with the clan's leader, Omni. Mictian himself was still wet behind the ears, but they figured that worse comes to worse, they run like hell. They rolled in with only the items on their personal forms, a few various firearms on Mictian and Kain's sword, Muramasa. They stood before the Mansion, and using the only missile he'd been issued, Mictian took aim and launched. Kain, using what little power he had, guided the missile as best he could for support. In the end, the Mansion was destroyed. Kain was once more forced in to conflict with Omni Hayato and Mictian was forced to fight the SiC to the clan, Omni's elder brother Ace. Kain and Mictian, instead of fighting, ran from the two and began to strike their weaker members as they fled the mansion. Ace, worried about his quickly falling comrades, ordered a retreat and with a woman over his arm retreated his own self. Together, Omni and Mictian sent Omni running as well. As they stood before the burning building, Mictian spoke to Kain.

"Kain, why do we serve Spook?"
"You're askin' the guy that's only here 'cause he was told to serve or die."
"Spook issued me one missile thinking we'd die here. I know he didn't expect this to work, and logically, it shouldn't have worked."
"Well, it DID work. Probably helps we're twice as smart as anyone in this damn clan, but it's gotta help we had a plan, too."
"Exactly! WE had a plan, Kain! You and me, together, sent these freaks running for their lives. WE are the ones with the plans, and obviously the power, so why are WE taking orders from Spook?"
"Once again: You're asking the guy that was FORCED here. But, I get what you're sayin'. Aside from those guns n' his stupid a** intangibility, Spook's strong as a ********' feather. Hell, you learned his tricks in two days, and by now, I gotta be stronger than him."
"Yeah, no doubt you're stronger. And I not only learned his tricks, I advanced them. Kain...join me. You and I should be the ones on top, not that sniping coward."
"Y'know Mic, I like the way you think! Yeah, you n' me startin' our own guild, the guild to destroy all other Guilds, Clans and Factions!"
"Sounds like a great plan to me my friend!"
"And we'll call it..."

"Black Rose."

The two resigned from DELTA right then and there. When confronted by Spook, Mictian and Kain boldly spoke their ambitions to Spook. Spook, in a fit of rage, cast them out and told them to see if they could do it, but when they came crawling back to him, they'd shine his boots for eternity. Two each gave the man a finger and walked off, searching for...anything.

Chapter II: The Black Rose

Neither had any idea what the hell they were really doing. They had a common goal but nowhere to station anything from or rest their ambitions. Several times they'd attacked Guild Halls and clan territories for temporary stationing, though it never lasted long. In the end Kain gave up his own personal mansion, one handed down to him from an old friend that had housed several of his kind throughout the centuries to their ambitions. Using their designs and Kain's talents with magic, the mansion was converted in to a fortress in the middle of what was once known as Vampire Town.

As time passed, Kain taught Mictian a bit about magic and in return Mictian left him the hell alone about wanting this and that and everything else. While Mictian was busy designing their new base, Kain went on the recruit. Several members of DELTA defected thanks to Kain's persuasion, and even more defected when Mictian finally began to recruit. In the end Spook left the seen, though a prodigy to Spook named Xander soon took over DELTA. While Mictian and Xander started to become good chums, Kain was busy trying to boost their ranks with more than DELTA members. A few no-names joined, and Kain even recruited some of his own friends. In the end, Xander even bowed down and swore DELTA's loyalty to the Black Rose. Kain and Xander despised one another, but Xander, nor his second in command, another loather of Kain named Alexia, ever went against him nor questioned his orders. Fresh recruits even began to flood in. Soon enough, the Black Rose was a name known throughout the land and feared in every home.

As more time passed Kain had increased his power by several folds, leaving Mictian behind. He never knew why Mictian suggested it, nor did he care. He figured he'd humor his friend when he was asked if they could have a third leader. It didn't surprise Kain this third leader happened to be Annika, the current play toy for Mictian. Kain agreed so long as he was allowed to be given Judgment Absolute; no order went without Kain's notification and he had the right to cancel any order given. DELTA was now also to be placed directly under Mictian and Annika as Dogs for them. Mictian, nor Xander, argued it. Alexia did, but she was the smart one. Annika only wanted to sit in a throne and ******** her boy. Annika, in all of Black Rose's history, never gave an order or drew blood.

Three clans made themselves known as Black Rose grew: The McCloud clan, lead by Vincent McCloud; the Hayato clan, obviously still lead by Omni Hayato, though his brothers Ace and Akuma now assisted him, and the Kayeti clan lead by Faern Kayeti. There was a fourth clan that was more or less an "amazonian" clan lead by two women from Kain's past that'd nearly killed him, but they'd also been linked to Hayato before they'd had their differences and split off. These were the Darkblades, sneaky little girls that would lay low under Black Rose's radar. It was in an encounter with Faern Kayeti that Kain's role in the group was called in to question. Faern explained that any good clan, or guild, needed some symbol of authority. Kain agreed, and went to dig up these symbols...

Chapter III: The Three Swords

The legend went:

Masamune Date, a hero of the waring states era of Japan that had opposed both Nobunaga Oda and Ieyasu Tokugawa, wished to leave behind some legacy of his name. Though he was no more than a boy when he fought in the war he was able to match the swordsmanship of Musashi Miyamoto with ease and even outrank Magoichi Saika when it came to guns. Though, because he was young and still learning from the world, Masamune's ambitions had never come to head. Nothing of the Dragon of the East's legacy was to be left behind other than his integrity being shot to hell as he was forced to bow before Nobunaga Oda. It was with this revelation that Masamune decided to create a sword of unparalleled beauty and power. He took this time to provide his services as a sensai to Muramasa Sengo. Shortly before his passing, Masamune created this sword and imbued it with his name, and thus legacy.

Muramasa then went to work creating his own sword, believing that his youth and strong hands would allow him to forge a sword three times as beautiful and powerful as Masamune. He didn't have the discipline much less patience that Masamune did, though, and thus when he forged his first sword, given the name Muramasa to show his own legacy, it couldn't compare in beauty. He grew to hate not only the sword, but his sensai himself. Unaware of it, Masamune was feeding hatred in to the sword. When he compared the swords in power, Muramasa failed once more, and yet more hatred was fed in to the sword. Thus, Muramasa began to forge a second sword. This time, he spent an identical amount of time forging the sword, using all the methods his sensai had, making sure it was the opposite of Muramasa. Again, the result was a failure. This sword was incredibly beautiful, but weak. Masamune grew more powerful thanks to his sorrow and hatred. Muramasa cast the three swords in to the river and died full of hate.

Shortly thereafter, a friend to Masamune arrived. As had been predicted by Masamune, Muramasa was now dead, having suffocated in a pool of his own self-misery. And, as predicted once more, Kain found the three swords sitting in the river. He fished them out and did as instructed by Masamune. First, he sealed the demon within the Masamune that allowed it to feed off of negative energy. He then released the seal carved in to Murasame, one that had been placed there by Muramasa when he was trying to replicate his sensai's design. Upon releasing the seal, Kain made a few adjustments to it as he'd been instructed which in turn reversed the flow of Murasame. The spirit of an angel of vengeance was then sealed within the sword, and from that day on it grew in power with each bit of love and kindness in the world shown. Muramasa, a dormant sword created by a pathetic pupil lay silent. Kain then took it upon himself to perfect this sword as Muramasa had failed to do, creating a sword that could cut dimensions. A spirit that could only be titled "Order" was sealed in the sword, instructed it was to forever keep the balance between it's brother and sister. From that day on, Kain kept Masamune and Muramasa sealed and locked away but always kept Muramasa at his side.

When Kain returned to the castle after his excavation, he explained his idea that Guild Leaders needed signs of their power to Mictian and Annika. Mictian agreed, and was thus granted Masamune. Annika, as much as Kain hated it, was then given Murasame. He unlocked both sword's seals, and from then on their power was never once questioned.

As time passed and Mictian grew more familiar with Masamune, it's power began to corrupt him. It'd often trick Mictian in to horrible situations, though Mictian began to care less and less so long as he had the sword's power, and so long as the sword could gain more and more power, even if it meant his life was to be nothing but a miserable drag through the dirt.

Chapter IV: Tempest, Smart Cells and Ultimate Power

Kain had money and fame, and he'd gone through more women then he had fingers, toes and thumbs. He loved the power-status life, but he wanted something more...that something was power. It'd been some time since he'd learned anything and honestly, though he knew Black Rose could dominate anything in it's path, he ALONE wanted that power. It drove him crazy that there was a force, even if it was his own, that powered over him. It especially irritated him that Mictian seemed to be pulling power out of his a** and catching up with Kain at incredible speeds.

Upon one of his solo ventures from the castle, Kain met a strange looking sadomasochist named Tempest. There wasn't a place on this frail looking young man that wasn't pierced, or at least he assumed not. He was quite the giant as well, making him look altogether very awkward. Awkward and disproportioned things pissed Kain off like nothing else, and thus he started a fight with this mini-behemoth. In that same second he began, he lost. Tempest overpowered him without even moving. Kain tried again, and was once more defeated. Wounded beyond regeneration, Kain still tried and was finally knocked out for good. Tempest, interested in Kain's abilities and personality, offered to train him. Of course, Kain agreed.

He learned more than he'd ever dreamed in simply a month, though he'd discovered his body had it's limits. This of course pissed him off, but Tempest had a cure. He explained to Kain he could give his body limitless potential with the use of his nanites that would in turn re-model his entire body and place each cell with a "smart cell." Kain again agreed, and was then told the quickest method was to die and allow the nanites to bring him back. It apparently made the process easier. Kain agreed, and Tempest told one of his other students to kill Kain. He did, and was then injected with the nanomachines. He slowly awakened, and when this other student tried to kill Kain again, Kain vaporized him.

Kain learned all about what these machines could do, and in time mastered Tempest's own techniques, namely Time Dilation and the AP Field. Tempest told Kain he wasn't far from achieving a "Celestial" form, though the thought of losing any remaining humanity disturbed Kain too much to allow it. For now, he was content. It wouldn't last long, though, and Kain would return to Tempest. Tempest revealed the secrets of these higher beings to Kain, and through training, Kain forced his body to evolve in to that of a God-like celestial's. Kain no longer needed the nanites, but removing them would only force Tempest to kill him for dishonoring him.

He'd return to the castle and take command once more, refusing to explain his absence. He then built his own lab, and with the help of his sister-by-bond Kiera removed each of the nanites, destroying his body in the process, and indeed killing him. He'd chosen Kiera because he knew she could piece his body back together, then call his soul back in to it and indeed she did. Kain awoke completely reawakened, able to switch between so many forms and use all of these powers without the smart cells. Of course, he kept this a secret from Tempest, who became a friend to Black Rose, though he and Mictian had a very odd relationship. They'd be chumy, then fight, and it'd go on and on. He also made a whore out of Annika, which he indeed enjoyed.

Things were good...

Chapter V: Betrayal

Kain soon decided to terminate all resistance in the world. Thanks to Tempest, Faern joined Kain considering that they were both "Children of Tempest's Cells," though Faern was obviously very content with his fake power. With Kayei under control, Kain turned his eyes to Omni.

Kain agreed to meet with Omni for a one-on-one duel in the middle of a secluded field. Kain waited, and Omni arrived. He was then ambushed by thirty-six of Kain's best men, surrounded from all sides and angles. Kain ordered them to fire, and the threat of Omni was removed. However, he soon encountered Ace who he'd dealt with more than once in Black Rose, the first time being when he'd kidnapped Kain's adopted daughter, who betrayed the Guild for Ace and blew out his shins. Blaming Ace for the time it took to regenerate his shins, Kain happily agreed to an honest duel with the eldest of the Hayato brothers. Kain quickly defeated Ace, but allowed him to live given he'd defected from his brother's own clan.

Kain's eyes were then on the McCloud clan. Sadly, his plans never quite came to head there as he soon had to deal with an emo-tastic Mictian C. Rose making new, ludacris demands. Thanks to this, Kain was forced to either become a lackey to Mictian's ego, or betray his own guild for the sake of not only his dignity, but to strike down and arrogant tyrant. He joined the hidden faction lead by Tempest, and instantly began his attack on the Black Rose. Within mere moments, everything he cherished was in ruins. Tempest was instructed to keep out of the fight, and though he agreed, he scolded Kain for his "bad manners." Kain went about destroying every last piece of the castle and even impaled and beheaded Annika, sending the already emotional Mictian, now corrupt by Masamune, in to a rampage. Though the fight lasted for quite some time, Kain came out the victor after removing the head of his best friend and incinerating his body, leaving only Mictian's head on a pike as a memorial to his best friend.

Though this was the end of Black Rose's first saga, I feel I should add some notes for what happened between now and the next saga.

-Tempest was soon after defeated by Kain and brother-in-law Viper. Soon after that, Kain killed off Viper.

-Kain created the Silver Dragon Syndicate, which grew to be just as powerful as the Black Rose. Kain eliminated the McClouds with the help of DELTA, though in the end his own guilt brought the SDS to it's grave.

-Kain re-built the Black Rose with a resurrected Mictian, though after Mictian shot Kain in the back of the head as "payback," Kain again annihilated his own creation and damned Mictian's soul to the bottom of hell, trading his soul to Mephistopheles for the ability to drink water.

-As a joke, Kain stole the young child of Alexia and ex-agent Fox, now fathered by Xander. Kain raised the young woman, Logan, in to the perfect warrior. She became a rioter for peace.

-Kain reached a demi-God status, and BRAVO officially disbanded. Alexia then created the Bravo Faction, which Kain allied himself to. During this time he realized his true love was one Olivia Porter.

-As Kain's power began to grow out of control [enter "Titan Saga"] he was sealed away by Olivia until she could find a way to convert his excess power. During this time, Alexia killed off Olivia, quoting her as a "Threat to humanity."

-Kain was released by Logan and told Olivia was killed. unable to comprehend much, Kain never asked who by. He was only informed that a new menace codenamed the "Titans" were showing up all over Earth with power equivalent, if not greater than Kain's. Thinking these forces were the only things strong enough to kill his Goddess, Kain agreed to be a tool.

-After the defeat of the fourth resurrected Titan, Mictian, who had been granted life by Mephistopheles just to mess with him, Kain encountered a young Titan by the name of Aria. Aside from a few differences, she looked like Olivia, thus he listened to her plea. She explained she was a sorceress, a true Goddess of Magic. She explained that Kain ought to look at who he was fighting and their motives, and look at the people he was fighting for and their methods. When Kain finally questioned Alexia on Olivia's death, she answered Kain honestly. Kain then dispossed of the only human to ever survive and encounter with him. He'd destroyed his nemesis and joined Aria as her cliche' Sorceress' Knight.

-Seeking revenge, Logan attacked the only father she'd ever had. After a long battle, Kain struck down the closest thing to a child he'd ever had.

-Seeking revenge for her mother, Ashlyn, the daughter of Logan, fought Kain. Though it was nearly to a stand-still, Kain finally finished her off.

-Kain and Aria ruled for decades, until Aria's life came to an end do to overexertion of her powers.

-Kain went back in to hiding. H.E.C. was soon established, and Kain, knowing Aria and Olivia both would want to keep the world alive, vowed his allegiance to Richard Eleck, waiting for the time strike him down.

-Waiting too long, Earth was annihilated. Kain rushed off with the rest of H.E.C. to the new planet.

-Under Eleck's nose, Kain created a field of ice off on a remote area of the planet and rebuilt his Himmel and Holle Laboratories, as well as his mansion within this glacial paradise.
