Please forgive me if this is in the wrong form. I wasn't sure whether to put it in the Shopping section or the FAQ and I reasoned that since it's a question it should go here! (If not I would appreciate it if the thread would be moved and myself informed so I know for the future. wink )
Onward to my question! I've recently checked the Metamorphose page and i'm curious about their Summer Lucky Packs. I'm a beginning lolita and a Lucky Pack would be of immense help to my wardrobe. Yet i'm very confused because the News page says they're selling the "Special Sets". I don't understand that at all because I'm sure the Lucky Packs include unknown items, not items one can choose. Yet on Metamorphose's page they say they're "Special" not "Lucky". And furthermore one can choose the item within the set.
This probably sounds horribly silly, but if anyone would set me straight i'd appreciate it. Also, is the Special Pack and Lucky Pack the same? Thankyou for your time and I hope I didn't confuse anyone nor sound too silly and unsure. Thankyou and have a nice day! 3nodding

Special Sets from Meta are what Lucky Packs are for Baby and AP during the winter. Baby and AP release a lucky pack that is a full outfit which is great for beginners. In this case, Meta's "special set" has a marine theme with the option of two jumpers and matching socks. The winter Special Sets came with a jumper skirt, socks and a cell phone strap/bracelet and necklace.
From the page that Meta has up, it looks like only the jumperskirt and socks will be included this time, though you can pick which style you prefer unlike before. Meta has released sets in the past, however they were not "special" sets put up for reserve as this set and the winter set were, but merely sold as regular items on the site. This caused a problem with the shopping cart system when people rushed to order them, however, so Meta devised a new system to release them as a reserved item.
Meta has not yet announced a summer lucky pack release, though it is likely that they will do so soon. A lucky pack (in Meta's case) consists mostly of odds and ends that they could not sell, but which are ideal for a beginning lolita. Most of the time, basic blouses and bloomers are included, and often a jumper, skirt or OP will appear in the pack as well. A lot of members on EGL have been speculating about what will be in the Lucky Packs, since the past releases included a few relatively highly sought beginner's items (like the marine series skirts and jumpers with the little sail boats).
If anything that is beyond just a basic blouse or bloomer is included in a lucky pack, it is likely to come from the sales pages.

Oh thankyou! That answers all my questions and more. Thankyou very much for explaining that for me. ^w^
I've been lurking on EGL for a bit but I was unsure if I should post the question there.
I will definitly be looking for the Summer Lucky Packs. (Or i'll wait for the Winter ones...)

Also, Baby doesn't put their LPs on the site for winter, and I don't know if they'll do a similar LP for this year yet [I honestly haven't been keeping up with brand news lately as much as usual], but if they do, theirs is worth far more to a beginner lolita than Meta's. You get a full outfit for a bit more money [since you have to use a shopping service], usually with a JSK, socks, hairbow, blouse and tote bag plus a novelty item [this winter they had calendars]. Same thing for AP.
Meta's sometimes duplicates items, such as two pairs of bloomers with a skirt and random blouse. That kind of thing. Good luck!

Yes i've heard that Meta's aren't quite up to par as Baby's or AP's.
What is the general rate for shopping services? Especially those for the Lucky Packs. I'm very interested in them. Most likely Baby or AP~ heart

It depends. A lot of times, you have to use a shopping service that is very small and personalized. Most of the large ones (Crescent Shop, Celga) don't do anything but auctions and web shop orders. They won't go to stores.
Some people charge about 15%, Mai charges 20% but isn't taking new orders as far as I know [she'll accept some requests, but not all]. I got a Baby winter LP this year for $180 after shipping and fees through Mai. I believe the original cost was about 120, with 25 for shipping and her fees. I'll have to do some more research on who is still doing their shopping services, since many of those who had been doing so are now out of Japan. I can think of two who haven't left, yet, so I'll see if they're still able and willing to take orders.
Also, Meta has put up photos of the Special Set, now. It's really, really cute. XD
