I'm currently driving my mom's car around, so she provides gas. All of the Americans b***h about $4/gallon, but they don't realize Europe has is WAY worse. I'm not gonna be complaining.
I think distance may be an issue there, espescially in the west. I mean, when you live 60 miles from the nearest city of any size, you can't exactly hop on the subway.
Also, since gas had risen enormously to reach $1.77 by the time I started driving (and I'm only 23, so it hasn't been THAT long) I think the fact that gas prices have RISEN so much in such a short time is what has people riled up. You can't really triple the price of something and expect people not to complain.
I remember when everyone bitched about it hitting $2.00/Gallon. I see why everyone is complaining, but it could be a lot worse.
Of course it could be worse, but there is no real excuse for it to be as bad as it is. Plus it's not just that the gas is going up, it also raises the price of pretty much everything else, since it costs more to transport it.
100% what he said. Also part of what Hollow said. I used to have to commute about 70 miles each way to work. That gets expensive.
Lot's of time to listen to music in the car though.
Very true. Unfortunately the car only had a tape deck, but the local rock station kept me alive.
