Have you ever done a last-minute costume? If so, how did it turn out? Do you think last minute costumes are ever okay?

Here's my last minute costume story:
The live-action Death Note movie is going to be playing in some theaters around my area tonight and tomorrow. I just found out yesterday afternoon I can go with my friends. The problem was that they're going /tonight/. Not wanting to be without a costume (since I don't have a Death Note t-shirt), I went to work on my cosplay right away. Because of a few events that took place last night, I only had about 40 minutes to make my costume.

I was suprised at how good the costume is. It's not the best Misa costume ever, of course, but it doesn't look like it took a little over half an hour to put together. I am quite proud of my work.

I'll post pictures next time I'm on. I intend to have one of my friends take my picture at the movie showing tonight.

PS I can't wait. Tonight is going to be awesome. /o/

*jelous* I REALLY want to go... I thought it was playing at the theater that I usually go to but they aren't... The nearest theater playing it is forever away and it's playing durring the time that my sister's supposed to be at her tutor (one of those Sylvian Learning Center type places) crying crying crying *Cry* crying crying crying

If it makes you feel any better, the movie was dubbed in English and ended up failing hardcore. It was honestly still very fun, because I was in a group of five fangirls (counting me) randomly shouting things throughout the whole movie. Like, during Misa Misa's Funtime Sweets, I held up the candy I had bought. One of the two Ls in my group patted me on the shoulder during the scene that Misa's family's killer was shown and said "I'm sorry, but your family's murderer is hot." I hadn't been paying attention-trying to figure out where to put all the food I had bought-and said "That guy killed my parents?" She confirmed it and I replied that the murderer was pretty hot. L high-fived me.

I had a LOT of candy, so I of course got the comment of "Misa, aren't you supposed to be on a diet?" and I responded "I have a high metabolism. Screw dieting!"

Unfortunately, there was only maybe nine cosplayers there. We made up four of them (one of the people in my group didn't have a costume).

As for the movie itself though, they used the anime voice people. It really didn't work well, although occasionally it added unintentional entertainment since the voices were ridiculously off. Ryuk was animated by CGI. The animation itself was pretty good, if you ask me. But...it didn't fit in well with the live action, so he looked quite fake. I would suggest that if you get a chance to buy the DVD or even rent it, watch it in Japanese. 3nodding

Lul. Even after reading that, I still wish I got to see it. (I was a manager at a retail store at the time = NO TIME OFF. EVERRRRR.)

Most of my costumes I generally put in to the "last minute" category, unfortunately. I'll get the majority of it done a few months in advance and leave one or two things to do later. Without fail, i'm stuck working until 3am the day of the con trying to finish those things. Hahaha.
I'm super lazy now, and just don't cosplay much. Woo.

I'm jealous D:
It was suppose to be playing in a theater around here (about a half hour drive)
My buddies decided to go without me the first night because I was working.
Serves them right too, because it turns out the theater didn't even end up showing the movie. Which sucks though, cause they had the posters up and everything D:

So alas, I never got to go...

My b/f did Raito for the same reason. We went to a thrift store the day before and made the best one ever lol if I can ever find a good pic of him in it I’ll post it on my gaia site. It’s on my myspace.

Yeah, they did that with the FMA movie. Sorta. I read that it would be showing in Cleveland and got really excited and got together a group to go see it (FMA is my favorite anime. My gaia avi is Isbalan!) Then the dates/times came out and...nowhere in Ohio, let alone Cleveland, had made the list. I was sad. The day it came out on DVD, my dad went out the the store and bought it. I got together a group to see it at my house. When it got to seven people, everyone was given a deadly sin so that way I couldn't invite anyone else.
