In orbit of the capital of the Marquis Federation, the Mariana Drive Yards were established in order to produce warships to combat the expansionist forces of the Dojourian Empire, and later the Galactic Federation of Free Worlds. When the shipyards were first established, only a few yards were operational, but through constant confrontations with the Empire, the yards were heavily developed into a massive spiraling construct.
