Got a heap of suggestions
blaugh - when I can't think of a good layout, I like to look around for one that I like, and work from that basic idea. I used the overlapping layers thing from the
iRO site in my kung fu site, and it was a lot easier to build it up into something of my own from there.
- if you have a white background, I think you really need to have other visually appealing aspects to the site to save it from looking a bit plain. Maybe a fancy border, or a simple patterned background around the table you've got the main content in?
- could be just me, but I don't like large text
sweatdrop 11px or 12px usually look nice (I think it was 12px for Arial...)
- I'm on 1152x864 res, and the right hand side is looking a bit plain. Maybe center the main table?
- change the link colours to anything other than the default ones
- the menu at the top would look cool with some rollover effects, which can be done pretty easily with CSS or with javascript (I think Dreamweaver has a thing for it in Behaviours or something)
- more pictures... pictures of dogs? So if someone went to the site without already knowing what it was about, they would see dogs, see dog water box, and connect the two to figure out what it is, all without even reading the text.
- learn CSS! Its amazing the amount of power and freedom that you get with it, not to mention the fact that you don't have to specify the font face and size for every paragraph
