Unfortunately, I don't think poverty will ever end, or that the most powerful nations in the world TRULY care about solving it. Why? It's not in their best interests.
In order to become powerful, you need to have humble poor working beneath you, carry the base of the entire society. Poor people are usually less educated than the rich, meaning that tactics such as manipulation and deceit are carried out on the poor people without retaliation.
Poverty is a world issue that could be solved tomorrow, but it won't be.

Well poverty is usually caused because goods and services are scarce because of the limited availability of resources (the factors of production) along with the limits on technology and skillful people relative to the total amount desired. In other words scarcity causes poverty, although to be fair the current level of poverty could reduced greatly by voluntary charity and economic reform. But there will always be poverty as long as there is scarcity, so until there comes a time when there is an abundance of resources there will always be some level of poverty.

We should tax the rich a lot more, along with everyone else, but mainly the rich and don't tax the people that are in poverty as much. Then supply jobs for everyone, and also supply tons of services and free housing.
