" I guess hunger really is the best spice... " Laura said to herself, watching Tabula finish everything off rather quickly. " What's your friend's name? " she asked, looking at the toy bantha.

"Ohf hif namf," Tabula gulped down the food that was still in her mouth and started over. "Sorry, his name's Banthy, he's all I have left...after my parents died..." Tabula lowered her head and felt sad as she stroked her toy.

Niomie stood on the deck, blinking a few time as she watched the crew fractured apart, Mareal had holstered her sidearm and had walked off the ship after a short heated exchange with Kalin, who had disappeared up the turbolift with an unkind jester directed towards Mareal.
Laura had moved over to the child and had lead the child away by the hand to make good on her offer to feed the little girl and had followed Kalin up the lift as well, leaving the wide-eyed Niomie alone with her irate captain.
“What the frack just happened.” Niomie mumbled to herself before tuning back to her captain.
“Orders, cap’?” she asked a bewildered look on her face.

The whole scene unraveled before Jag's eyes.
And he wasnt happy.
At least he knew his crew didnt try to hide the kid from him. Nonetheless it had to go.
"The Bilge Rat's getting off my boat." He said, setting his blaster to stun. "I dont take stow-aways. They bring nothing but trouble. The last thing I need is to be wrapped up in kidnapping and slavery charges. And once its off, I've got to go and round up my lazy a** crew who dont wait for orders."

Kalin was thoroughly upset, but it wasn't going to ruin his day. He went to his room to get some extra credits so he could go buy some 'necessities' of life. On his way back out, he saw the young child and watched for a minute how good Laura was at dealing with kids. He stared for a moment and smiled, then snuck away hoping he hadn't been noticed.

“Aye cap’” Niomie said, eyeing his blaster with a worried expression. Regardless he was the captain of his ship, as crew for said ship she was to follow he orders, still she felt she had to say something about his un-holstered weapon.
“Isn’t that a bit much for a small child?” she asked him, gesturing to his blaster. “You’re not going to shoot her are you cap’?”

"Why not?" He asked her. "You never know what stowaways will do. They're like vrelts but bigger. They could be hopped up on spice, be carrying a disease, or be just plain crazy. Better to put 'em down from a distance than to get to close to 'em."

“Because she’s just a small child, you might really hurt her with that thing.” She pointed at his blaster. “If she’s carrying anything, other than cuteness, she’s already come into physical contact with more than one of the crew, and if she was buggy in the brainpan I think we would have seen some sign by now. Laura didn’t seem to have a problem warming up to her.”

The town where the Cap'n had brought Kalin and the crew was not the most industrious. The buildings were kind of run-down, the women were all old or weren't pretty, and the ale was sour. The only good thing it had were a few places that sold roots and spices, which Kalin would enjoy giving to Laura for dinner later.
Even the knife shops and kiosks where not that impressive. It was a bumming experience... that is, until Kalin found a good cantina.
