My grandmother, who has been dead for almost 10 or 11 years, was playing the piano the other day. I swear, I could hear it coming from the downstairs. I couldn't help but look, and, sure enough, the piano cover was off, but the playing had stopped. I saw my grandmother hovering over the seat, as though she was waiting for me to leave to start playing again. I couldn't help but go back up to my room so I could hear her play again. And she started to play out piano again. The strange thing is, it only happens when I'm in the house by myself.

You may be the only one who hears her. Why play for others who won't even notice her, when she's got a grandchild who can and is willing to back away just to hear her play again? I know that someone used to play an organ at a house I'd lived in, but we didn't own an organ. He could have stopped playing, but he continued because he knew someone would listen.

sounds like your grandma wants you to play so that you will always remember her.
