While I must admit that definitely plays second to Iron Man and I doubt I'll still enjoy this film after watching to two or three more times, Speed Racer, was a very entertaining watch. It definitely pays tribute to the source material in more ways than one.
To those of you who haven't seen it and are debating it, I recommend it only if you can sit through an entire episode of the original series and not walk away in disgust. It's over the top very homage based, and seems to play for the young and young at heart only.
And to the those of you nay sayers out there who didn't like it, just understand that what you watched was a big screen live action adaptation of a crappy 1960's Japanese cartoon show; honestly what'd you expect?
