Sorry for continuing the fad, but I made a toaster fire. That's three times I said it, you'd better remember.
So, we have this toaster, and it was really really old. My mom and dad bought it when they were together, since it "had four sockets instead of 2". New technology and stuff, so impressive. So anyways, yeah. It had been running a little slow, always making burnt toast, but never as bad as this.
So, I'm just getting coffee, and microwaving it until it gets at least as hot as I like it, when I get the whim for some toast with some cream cheese. I know, good, right? So anyways, coffee is done by the time I put the bread, which was brown, despite me usually using white bread, which I was too lazy to switch it to by the time i had taken it out, (ILL OMEN ALERT).
So, anyways, I go downstairs with my coffee, and for an unknown amount of time, I am just on my computer, lurking gaia and watching youtube and reading stuff on smashboards, WHEN..... I notice that the hall outside the room I'm in is getting foggy. I go to inquire.
THE WHOLE UPSTAIRS IS LIKE SOMEONE LEFT A FOG MACHINE ON, EXCEPT THE FOG IS REALLY HARD TO BREATHE IN! Needless to say, I get a bad feeling in my stomach, being mother's day in all, and I quickly TRY to assess the problem, but it doesn't work, so I go to my parent's room. "Dad, you really have to come out here. There's smoke everywhere." lol. My dad probably wasn't dressed, and since we have two guests, my mom comes out.
Lol, I can hear people joking about it upstairs.
So, when she sees it, she blurts "holy s**t". A pause, momentarily. Let me just tell you a few facts. The guests we have is one person who came to sleep here overnight, and is someone my sister probably knew or found at the bar. He is sleeping on the couch, which is close to the kitchen. My sister is also sleeping in the living room, on a love seat. My mom and dad were in there room, down the hall, as was our new ... roomate? She's moving in to live with us, so my dad and I are now outnumbered. Pete,
pix here, is sleeping in my room, also down the hall. So, back to the action, my mom looks around, and meanwhile, the first fire alarm goes off. This wakes Pete and makes him wonder what's the matter. Suuch a cute dog and cute personality. He's really sleepy when he wakes too.
We can't find anything, so we go downstairs. My dad joins us, putitng on a shirt at the same time. We are still having no luck with it all. All of a sudden, we hear something from upstairs. It was the toaster. So, yeah. we go upstairs, (the toaster was unplugged by now), and it ends up that's what did it. There are rubble pieces of toast (lol), and I'm like, in my head, "oh s**t". By now, I already knew what happened, but I'm surprised that it did happen like this.
So, our toaster has been dieing a slow death. The first set of sockets, the most used, have been getting less and less responsive. It will come out burnt like, all the time. This time, it simply didn't pop out.
Sucks, I know, right?
Anyways, yeah. In conclusion, I don't think I'll be getting a nickname from this, but perhaps some heckling. Who knows though.
