Our border (US borders both)
Please know: I'm a glutton for punishment, and I am aware I will get nasty comebacks in one way or another.

If we continue to slack our protection, there will be a great increase of illegal immigration and drug trafficking.

***Note: I know not all immigrants are horrible. I'm trying to point out that our borders are a mixed bag. A border patrol officer reported that there were 3 Yemenese and a Syrian headed to Chicago from Mexico. You see? You really can't tell who is crossing the border, whether they are drug traffickers, terrorists, or perfectly decent people.

*** My problem with all the influx in illegal immigrants is, they feed off resources that should have gone to a struggling military family, or a single mother with kids who can't afford medical bills, or even you!

*** A proposed solution: get to the problem (rocket science, I know). The first problem is corrupt governments who don't provide adequate care for their people. Ex: A lot more people are coming from Mexico because a lot of Central Americans are there illegally. So, we should fix the problem in Central America. (As long as tax payers aren't made to suffer for it.)

I see another solution. Encourage those who want to immigrate to America to do it legally, and just offer English as a second language in cities with large immigration records. Much easier than spending the TAX money to patrol the borders. What would also help is if we were sure that there isn't a cost to immigrate to America. Their cost can be covered by a little extra tax for non-citizens. (Must be in America for 7 years to become a citizen)

we shouldn't get involved in other peoples affair the U.S have their own problems to take care of. and helping another country is not cheap. It will interfere with taxes. before the united states even think about helping other countries they have to fix the poverty in the U.S and also im against illegal immigrants they should just send all that don't belong back even if it sounds cold because this country is already over populated. and the reason that a lot of immigrants come illegally is because they can't afford to come here legally. and if the united states go to other countries and try to fix their goverment we are just jumping into another war. something that we don't want.

Thereis a reason why it costs money to try and get into the US Legally and there's a reason why we have immigration laws. I'll give you an example by relating this to nature. let's say you have a grassy plain that can only support one hundred deer. Wolves are needed to keep the deer population in check. In this case the laws are the wolves. If the population is allowed to grow unchecked, although the number of deer increase, the amount of land does not. The deer get sick, disease spreads, and the entire herd eventually dies out completely.

In other words, we are already populated enough as it is. In fact we are overpopulated in a great many areas of the US. If we allow every Tom, d**k and Jose` to move in, eventually we will run out of land and our people will suffer as they already are now because jobs are being taken from legal citizens because companies don't want to pay minimum wage to someone when they can pay a few bucks or less an hour to someone who lives here illegally. Now I understand there are problems with poverty and such over the boarder, but we can't allow people to just freely ove in and take away so much from us, leaving us with scraps to live on and leaving many people unemployed and homeless.

Might want to fix our own government first - before we go telling others how to behave.

Indeed. We should fix our own government first. Have you heard how much money Bush approved to send for global food aid? HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS!!! scream

World to politicians: We should fix our government first! Working families have to pay for that crap! Why can't YOU? America needs to aid its own struggling citizens first of all. We can't afford to sell out our money and resources; if we do, it'll be a third world country.

@Itchyboobers: That was just an example. It's true, but just an example.

@Dearest Sweetheart: I like your idea, but patrolling the border IS necessary too. There is a lot of violence where illegals are smuggled.

While I agree that illegal immigrants are using our resources, if we didn't have Mexican people to work in diners, we would have to actually wash our own dishes!!!! Just kidding, that would be fine with me. But the point is that immigrants do all of our dirty work.

I agree. If it were easier to become a citizen, more people would do it. Obviously, there are some people we don't want here, like convicted criminals and such, but if we had better control we wouldn't need to worry about that.

A giant wall isn't going to help that. We aren't ancient China.

I'm not saying I want them to starve. I'm saying, why should America have to do it? Why can't some other country help with this?

Why? Because no matter how you put it, America is compassionate. Not perfect of course, just compassionate. Can't America be more efficient in spending? I'm not saying we shouldn't give, I'm saying we shouldn't give too much.
