Personality: Quiet most of the time, but surprisingly talkative when he feels comfortable around someone. He's nervous and shy, preferring to stay in the background and observe. He will, however, jump in if he feels he's needed, or if he was the only observer to a confrontation.

Talent: Surprisingly, it was his ability to avoid notice that got him his invitation to learn at Shinkami. In almost any group, unless he makes an effort to be close to the center of it, he drifts to the background and watches, almost blending into his surroundings, somehow almost encouraging watching eyes to pass over him without paying any attention to what they're seeing. Useful trick in a barroom brawl, no? Only 3 people to date have ever seen him when he wishes to be unnoticed... his father, Merle, and whoever sent him an invitation to Shinkami.

Physical description

He stands at 5'6" with short, spiky black hair. He wears loose, flowing clothes to conceal a muscled but still slender build. His clothes vary from black to a dark green, and his only ornamentation is a silver pendant of a dagger. He wears a wide-brimmed leather hat to keep the sun out of his silvery eyes. His belt is made of tooled black leather, and shows intricate Celtic Knotwork. his belt buckle is a Wolf's head.

Background

Galen Skie.... he was born in Dublin, Ireland. Born to Rachel Skie and her husband Connor on May 16th, 2008. Together, they owned a tavern called The Crystal Dagger, a place Galen fondly recalls today. He grew up above a taproom, in a warm and loving household.... until the day his mother died in childbirth. She died on May 15th, 2012, trying to give birth to his sister, who was stillborn. His father closed down the tavern in mourning, and a month later was persuaded to open it back up. It never had the same feel to it....

When Galen was 7, he convinced his dad to let him help with the tavern. His dad, when in his cups, would talk about his wife's desire to have seen Beijing, and always took Galen by the hand and told him they would go there. A year later, it turned out that he had been planning it all along. They left for Beijing, and with them was the ashes of Galen's mother and sister.WHen they arrived, Galen discovered that his father had made some very thorough arrangements.... namely, when they stepped out of the cab, they were in front of a tavern. It took Galen a minute to realize that it also was named The Crystal Dagger. Galen shook his head at that, and followed his father inside. Connor skie told him at that point that he shouldn't go out into the city alone yet, that things here were different then they were back in Ireland. Galen didn't believe him.

3 days later though, he was ready to admit it. For the first time in his life, he was lost. He didn't know any Chinese, so asking directions was an exercise in futility... Until he heard some speaking English. He tugged on that person's hair, asking for directions... and nearly swallowed his tongue, realizing that the really long hair belonged to a guy. The young person, Merle by name, gave him directions and accepted an invitation to come by for a drink as thanks.

The Tavern was in full swing that night, complete with barfight. Merle seemed surprised when someone got thrown through a window... Galen was just impressed by the distance. He looked in through the broken window, the gestured Merle to follow him closely as they wound their way through teh brawl. They were surprisingly quick friends, and stayed that way through the plague-like sickness that hit the land. Galen's father got sick and died, despite Merle's best efforts to save him. Galen mourned, and when the bar was sold he went back to Ireland to live his his Aunt Jennifer, until the day he found a letter in the mail inviting him to a place called Shinkami.....
