The dark gray paws sunk into the muck and mire, green sludge sliding between the furred toes of the numa, meeting webs and swelling them to their capacity. Fog had settled over the Coffee Swamp, making a bright orange candy seem less noticeable but not entirely invisible for all that he was attempting.
Nicabar had come here for a very important reason, risking his very essense and body to regain the coffee taste he had to himself. It seemed since he'd been taking a break from the stealing he'd been losing the coffee taste to his horns, a change that Moiety noticed and often commented on, much to Nica's disdain.
That was why he was here, in this swan-forsaken place.
Both of his gray orb-like eyes seemed to float as he sunk further and further beneath the muck of the swamp, making himself soak up the coffee into his body, reaffirming his taste, fixing it.
Or at least Nicabar hoped.

It was highly unlike anything he'd ever seen. At times, often in fact, the young prince of a Coffee would look to the skies and imagined all the disgustingly sweet candy speckled stars that perhaps lay in that jelly-filled sky. Although, this particular little Numa preferred to believe the sky was made of Coffee, black, just like him. But these were silly little nothings he only indulged in his most secretest heart of heart in his deepest of dreams. For there was nowhere else acceptable of such things.
Today however, he went to visit a swamp. A familiar swamp. The sort of place one from the area, and even a visitor, could not easily forget. It was a murky but oddly comforting place. The princely thing found he rather enjoyed the smell and the muck and although he didn't like the idea of setting foot in the disgusting murky ... pool... well he liked to look at it. It returned that essence of power to him that he so felt he needed. That he deserved. He was the best of the best wasn't he? Yes of course!
Boosting himself to sit a little straighter, and push his chest out higher, and proudly bear the leather and metal collar he wore, he stared out blankly, thinking thoughts of noble condescension and sorts. And then his eye caught. Something in the water. Something... some foul thing... was actually swimming in the disgusting thing. How... crude and peasant-like. With narrowing eyes, he padded around the Swamp a little until he was nearer.
Then, shocked compelled him to stop full halt. It was another Coffee, like himself. Why on earth would a Coffee degrade himself to swim in that? Didn't they have more sense? Wasn't his brood a smarter sort? Apparently not. And it was with silent distasteful loathing that he watched Nica 'enjoy' his little dip in the mucky swamp.

Far beget him to be thinking royal thoughts at a time so dire. If the coffee taste and scent and feel didn't come back to his body then his mate was as good as gone, lifemate or no. You couldn't take back a lifemating after all. Talk about being crushed for life.
Slowly, achingly slowly, the coffee sunk into his fur and horns, tainting the cola taste and smell with that of coffee, making it the sickly sweet/bitter taste that he'd had all his life. He'd have to take frequent trips back to the swamps to reaffirm this but he could at least feel it now all the way down to his toes. The shimmer in his eye and the itch to grab something from another's person caused the claws buried deep within his dark paws to spring out. Nicabar the Night Thief had returned once more, his tail lashing out like a whip as his senses amplified to make certain none had seen.
"s**t." The curse was soft and meant for his own sharp ears alone, however he knew the other had heard it, his dark gray eyes catching on the form of the tattooed Coffee before the swamp murk.
If this coffee wanted a fight then Nicabar, in want for general size and girth due to speed, would be sorely pressed to give him a good one, no matter the circumstance.
What if this new coffee wanted to know why he was swimming in what was considered the dredges of the swamp? That would just make an explanation from the thief have to come flowy and he wasn't sure he had 'flowy' in his repertoire just now.

The curse seemed to echo and resonate to the black and white Coffee, and he frowned. Petty manners, gruesome appearance and rather crude. Although it was obviously another Coffee, the black Numa didn't feel it owed any respect of any sort to the other and merely continued looking at him like he was the disgust swamp monster from Hell. Finally, with a sneer and his voice laden with conceit, he spoke, "And what are you? Trying to drown yourself in the muck?"
Nica
A sneer was all that was returned to the coffee standing on the dry swamp crust around the coffee bog he swam in. Both of his gray eyes flashed as he stood on his hind legs and threw a giant chunk of coffee bog at the numa that spoke to him. Coffee Numa were bad enough, let alone when a half coffee/half candy numa had to put up with one who thought himself greater than even the coffee around him.
For surely he thought that Nicabar was a coffee numa. Why else would he not kill him on the spot.
Slowly he stepped from the coffee, letting the sludge run down his bright orange fur until there was a pool around his deep gray paws and his body wreaked of coffee and a bitter sweet smell.
"If I were attempting my own drowning I would go about it in a way more fashioned towards someone of my kind. Hardly in a coffee bog on the edges of a swamp. If I were so desperate to die then I'd go and step into that horrendous Grape Soda River. Killing myself would be about the same wouldn't it?" Nicabar's voice rose like a harp through the air, he wasn't a bad looking or sounding numa. It was merely his attitude and his taste that won him the innaffections of his fellow Candy.
Maybe that was where Moiety surpassed them all.

Narrowly dodging the childishly thrown bit of mud that had been aimed towards him, he narrowed his eyes and then shrugged it all off. Letting his fur rustle beneath him, he wondered why the others never seemed to respect him. He was nobility, was better than them. They should have some kind of respect for him. But no, it was always this disgusting banter and the other was annoying already. Highly annoying. Examining his claws while the other prattled on, his looked up and raised a fuzzy eyebrow, "Quite finished? Good, then perhaps you wouldn't mind telling me why you were swimming in that disgusting thing?" A simple request. Any one who knew their betters would've answered politely. An answer at all would've been good enough for Gyzii at this point though.
Nica
Snorting at the gall this other numa had, Nicabar shook himself like a shaggy dog, coffee much flying everywhere, tainting everything around him with droplets of brown and green grime.
"Why should you be important enough to learn what I do?" Nicabar asked in return, a dual nature as a thief taught him never to answer, only to question.
Why should another coffee learn of his plans when he was clearly on his way headed in another direction, towards something else?
The audacity of it made Nica nearly laugh, but his laugh was all but a girlish one at best, considering that his voice sounded feminine for such a large male.
Sure he was gay and everything, but this male was neither pretty, nor was he Moiety. And in comparison he paled.

There was clearly something to hide, something to defend. Life was not candy coated gumdrops and lemon suckers. It wasn't so black and white like he was, not good and evil. There were degrees, he knew. Of course -he- was at the top of good. There was no one better than he was. No one more for good. His good. It didn't have to be the good of everyone else. Hah! They should be grateful they even lived in the same WORLD as him. If they breathed in his air space, they should THANK him. But no. No one did that. The fools. Haughty arrogant bastards, the lot of them. This one, this other was no different. Puffing out his chest with pride, he sneered again, "You obviously don't know royalty when you see it."
Nica
"Of course I know royalty. I've met royalty before. I don't think you want me to consider you royalty though 'Your Highness'". The numa's eyes flashed.
He really was being such a b*****d, not that Nicabar was surprised, most coffee numa were stuck up and thought themselves better than everyone around them, even other coffee. Especially those of the purest blood. They believed they were some sort of gods.
Should this one believe that he was royalty was something that Nicabar didn't have to deal with. It just meant that there were delusions in the other's head that Nicabar wasn't going to deal with. Sad mentally crippled thing that it was.
He.
That he was.
Now wasn't the time to go insulting other's physical manhood by calling them 'it'. No, it was more the time to think the 'royalty' statement over in full.
If this spoiled little coffee brat was truly royalty then Nicabar could make a killing by lifting all of his stuff. Add to it that it was coffee stuff, he could hauck it all in the Black Licorice Market, hidden from the eyes of candy and coffee alike.

"And why not?" returned the other in a rather insulted tone. "I am royalty, and to say anything less is more rude than you've already been..." Red eyes that seemed to glow with a strawberry colored glow glared at the other. Perhaps there was hope however. If the other knew royalty, and would believe him, that could be one faithful subject, and one was much better than none he supposed, rude though the thing was.
And of course, he had no qualms about insulting people inside his head and so everything that wasn't him, or his rank -and nothing was-, was an it. A thing. A worthless creature barely fit to take the same path he did.

Nicabar had half been listening to the other ramble on about his royalty and half thinking his own thoughts of stealing the poor creature as blind as a bat in the sunlight. Clearly this was a sheltered numa, if he thought he was royalty when there existed no reigning royalty anywhere within the lands of the numa, candy or otherwise.
Sure the Witch claimed herself royalty, but only the misguided coffee listened to her. So what she thought she was wasn't any of Nicabar's business in the least.
What mattered was how he could worm his way into the good graces of the numa before him, and then take everything he had from the mundane to the spectacular.
Anything he could nick from this unhumbled idiot would sell if he could write it off to others as 'royal' wares. Even if it were true that there existed no royalty.
At least he could make up a story. How good a theif would he be if he couldnt' come up with even the simplest of stories to prove an item's worth?
"Well naturally royalty has that certain bearing to it. You seem to have it." Nicabar said, lathering on the smooth in the hopes the other wouldn't have the brains to look past the compliment.

Typical, He was groveling now because he realized the true power and nature of the one standing before him. The compliment was lacking slightly, but it was a compliment indeed, and he stood just a little bit straighter if at all possible. He was hooked. Finally he felt somewhat peaceful to be recognized for what he truly was. Noble. Amazing. Greater than all of them. He was all this. Why shouldn't he be? He was Gyzii. "Of course I do. Lying is unbecoming..." His narrow eyes watched the other numa though, still wary. The sudden change and still ... his little swim in the muck, it was all very suspicious. But... furthermore... he was attempting redemption! How could a noble refuse such a blatant attempt to return to his good graces? Impossible! He couldn't.
Nica
The look on the other's face made him feel a little better that it had gone over as he'd planned. The poor fool had fallen for it and had gone and 'forgiven' Nicabar for his ways, all the more amusing because forgiveness wasn't what Nica had been searching for from the other.
Both of his razor sharp gray eyes caught the other's narrowed and the edges of them crinkled a bit, allowing for the briefest moment of smiles as he let the other think that Nica was happy he'd been allowed to stay in his presence. To think that he was groveling and begging to be allowed to stay with the other who was so 'royal' that Nica hadn't known what he'd said.
This was already shaping up to be nothing but a cakewalk. The most conceited of Numa were the ones with the most wealth, the ones that held something worth snatching and running with. Doubtless this one could show him something like that if he stayed with him long enough. Even if it was detestable to stay in the coffee swamp for too long(due in part to the cola part of his body that was physically burning and choking on the fumes the swamp gave off) he would stay as long as it took to rob this numa blind.
"Who's lying here? Certainly I'm not lying when I say I can see royalty in you. Just from the way you hold yourself." Nica said with a smile.

Gyzii
For a moment, Gyzii seemed slightly thrown off balance, as if he was forgetting something. Everything seemed to be good, and as he shifted on his paws slightly, trying to make sure he was definitely the epitome of nobility, his necklace clinked against the collar part of itself. Glancing at it quickly, his expression changed for a fraction of the time for which he looked at it. Affection. It was because of that special thing that he felt so special, and he puffed out his chest more to present it proudly. Posture and jewels were the sign of true power. Definitely. "That's quite kind of you to say," he said with a polite nod.
Nica
The pupils in Nica's eyes expanded at the expression that Gyzii allowed to fall over his face, something of affection, something aimed solely at his necklace cuff that adorned his chest in an amusing manner. It stood out from the rest of him, bright on his black and white.
That sun would sell exceedingly well. Leather especially sold well on the Black Market, since it was such a rare commodity. Slowly, very slowly as he didn't wish to make the snaggle toothed coffee any more suspicious than he'd been earlier, Nicabar lowered himself into the slightest of bows, jingling coming from the bangles about his hind legs as he did so.
"Royalty deserves to be served after all, who is it that serves you now that you're wandering around without someone to come to your elbow at your beck?"

Any doubts the black Numa might've had about the other vanished when he was bowed to. Sure, the other was dirty and did disgusting things like swim in swamps, but he was being nice and loyal. Loyalty was always rewarded. Compliments were nice too. Well placed and very deserved. Gyzii had been quite short of compliments ever since he'd met other people. They didn't see it. His awesomeness. It was so obvious, he supposed it went over their small brains. Oh well. "Unfortunately, no one," Gyzii said, almost sounding disappointed by this fact, but he did prefer loneliness a lot.
