Rachel screams as the cell wall explodes, but then seeing that it's Taralina, she relaxes. "Thank goodness! I didn't know what was going to happen to me if you hadn't broken me out."

The bees seem largely unphased by events so far, but one small worker hovers near Rachel, giving her a penetrating look.

Taralina, seeing Rachel, grinned mightily, adrenaline still flooding her brain. None of the energy from her charge was dissipating, even though she seemed to listen to Rachel's admission of relief.

"RACHEL!" she shouted, overlapping the end of Rachel's sentence, "This is a bad place! We will leave, now!"

"Umm... sure. Do you know the way out?"

"Uh..."

Taralina took a moment to gaze back down the corridor, failing utterly to recall the twisting path she'd taken into the hive.

"Yes."

She took off in a random direction at a quick but furtive stride, still avoiding the enormous insects where possible.

Rachel runs after her, trying to stay up with the larger girl but not being extremely successful. As she huffs along, she wishes she'd tried harder in gym class.

The light of day shines through an exit in the middle-distance. The bees ahead do not obstruct the way, but there is an increase in the buzzing behind Rachel.

If she was thinking rationally, she'd yell at herself for doing this, but Rachel looks behind her at the buzzing, slowing down slightly in the process.

Taralina surprised herself with the genuine relief she felt now that the exit was in sight. She was a fearless warrior, of course, but the longer she spent in the hive, the more anxieties she had to deal with.

She stopped at the precipice, though, totally unsure of how to get back down. It was not the most well thought-out rescue she'd ever dared.
