See now, I prefer 70s Queen, but Hot Space was what originally got me into them. I was actually surprised when I started listening to more Queen and it wasn't like Hot Space..
Back Chat and the live version of Staying Power are pretty awsome. smile

You know, for having listened to the album version of Staying Power all these years, I actually do really like the live version. Much as I hate to admit it, if Hot Space had been released as a live album, it probably would have done better.

The live versions were more rock sounding so if they sounded more rockish from the get go then there went the one major gripe everyone had with Hot Space which if wikipedia dosen't lie to me its that the album wasn't a rock album. And going off topic alittle somehow the album version of Back Chat sounds better than the live version. But thats just my oppinon. XD

I do prefer the album version of Back Chat. But srsly. I'm not sure why everybody bitched about Hot Space... If Queen had never gone off in different musical directions, people would b***h that they always did the same thing, but when they do things that are muscially different, people b***h because it's not the same.. It's like, we can't win!
Besides, does it really need to be rock to be good? ******** sake. (none of this is directed to you, btw).

I think the majority of users on Gaia these days are the prime example that people will find any little thing to b***h about. So your pretty much right with "we can't win. sad

Truely Freddie, John, Brian, Roger, and all the other classic rocks bands of the world were truely blessed to have lived through the times where there were no internets......and no Ipods. I would kill to live in a time where there are no IPods, no internets, and vinyl album warpage is not a problem as if your album gets warped you could just go buy a new one because they were still making them. domokun

Its between Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, and Jazz for me at the moment. I always prefered their 70's stuff to be truthful, because to me, their later music was more technically brillaint and precise, but their early music was more innovative and inventive. I particually like the Rhye series...

Although all their albums are fantastic (except maybe Hot Space, but Las Palabras De Amor, Put Out The Fire and Under Pressure are all amazing), I would have to say Queen II is my favourite.
