Well, I'm also a member of Den of Angels. I just wanted to ask something of all of you. Are you disappointed with people not paying attention to specific mold because it's a little less popular? Thing is, I've noticed both molds I have are in fact popular. Yet, people ignore them. I have a Dream of Doll Hoo [f] and a Dollzone Assassin Hid. I've noticed people have them and people post them as well. But a lot of them are ignored or shoved aside. Anyone else notice this with other molds or is it just these two?

I saw your post in the "Are you disappointed..." thread and went to DoA to check out your gallery posts as a means of being able to comment. Anyways, there are alot of reasons people dont comment. I dont get a huge number of comments on mine, but I dont exactly have the most popular selection of dolls. Does it really matter if no one comments? I post my pics for my own personal enjoyment and for the few others that might enjoy them. Do I care if everyone like omg loves my dolls. No. When I checked out your posts, I decided that they werent something Id comment on either. It has nothing to do with the dolls, but the overall quality of the images. They are washed out and blurry, and very uninteresting. Im not saying anything for the strict purpose of being a jackass, but the pictures are pretty lousy. Picture quality is the first on my list of qualifications for commenting. Even if the doll is beautiful, if the picture isnt good, then who can see that? I dont even comment of my very close friends dolls if the pics arent good. You do have some lovely comments on your posts, but if you cant do with a few really nice ones then you might want to look at why you arent getting the kinds of comments you want.
Its a dumb thing to whine about really, since you cant force people to comment, and just because they dont doesnt mean they didnt enjoy the pictures. The posts that get lots of comments are usually based in overall styling of the doll, picture clarity, posing, and set( location). Take user KyotoPunk on DoA. Some of her dolls arent my favorite molds by any means, but Im always driven to comment by the overall beauty and surreal quality of her pictures.

I haven't seen your pictures but I agree that the picture quality has a big part to do with it.
I don't get very many comments [ I have a Senior Delf Cian, a DOC Kirill, and a horribly craptastic camera.] and I have to say. My camera, is SUCKAGE. I'll see if this theory is true when I get my DSLR sometime this month or next. xD;
Or when I get my Ryu or Miho, just to see if the popularity is an issue.

Can't say I've seen your pictures, but there probably could be several reasons behind your not getting any comments. One, DoA is ********' massive. That's already self-explanatory.
Two, I agree with the others, when it comes to picture quality. Or creativity. Or expression. There are so many things that really make a picture attractive and worth commenting on. Doll can't speak for itself, so the owner has to push themselves to really express what they see in their dolls.
As for mold popularity-- I can't really say. I don't doubt it's existence. I for one, like to click on threads that I see my favorite molds on or somethin', but if the picture's got nothing special to it, it's just not worth it. Or sometimes posts are just completely overlooked, or people don't comment. I rarely comment for one, harr.
Sometimes I can have up to three pages of comments in a photoshoot and the next one I post I sometimes only get up to less than 10 comments and it's still the same doll. It's all variable.

Personally, I don't care. As long as I like the photos and as long as my friends at least comment on it, I'm fine. Or hell, if I like the photo engouh, it could get no comments and I'd be happy still, cause -I- like the photo. I certainly never expect many comments on a place as massive as DoA, where the post drops to the second page in under an hour. To be honest, if I look at the gallery, I maybe go two pages back at most. D:
If you want more comments, I suggest posting on your LJ or posting to and getting involved in a smaller doll community, like Resinality or something.
Plus, there's a lot of really shitty photos on DoA that amazingly have tons of comments, so I wouldn't let it bother you any. The amount of comments really doesn't say anything about the photos or doll itself IMO.

I usually get like 6-8 comments on my photo threads. I wish I got more. XD I think I take halfway decent pictures for the most part. I try not to make my dolls have weird eyes.
I think a lot of DOCs don't get many comments though, unless you are a known face-up artist or have a popular shop of some kind.

Nope, don't care. I take photos for me, not for the masses to tell me how good they are. I do like sharing the pictures of course, so if people want to praise them than awesome. If not, I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch.
I can post pictures of certain dolls and get nothing, I generally have a pretty good idea what's going to get little to no comments before I do it. Then I can post certain other dolls (my Pukis for instance) and I know at least a few people are going to comment. My guess is that Pukis are still really popular, and Pukishas aren't as common as the other Pukis.
If you want comments the harsh truth is you need pretty dolls, good pictures, and a lot of patience.

Yes and no...I've only ever really had one case where I was a little disappointed, I thought the photos of my BF Louis weren't bad and they didn't got...two comments, one of which was my friend who I totally forced to comment, but his box opening(which I'll admit, I half assed) got a lot of comments, so it kind of reminded me to just take photos of Alexei and Lisianthus because it makes me happy. Basing your happiness on other people's opinions of your dolls just seems like it'll disappoint no matter what.
I do admit it though, when I'm at the gallery, I'm most likely to click on a Ryu than any other doll, and I only really comment on photos of dolls that are awesome for one reason or another, I tend to be kind of shy on DoA.

I used to.
I put in the effort to take the pictures and share it on the website and the least they can do is look at them and post a comment right?
Oh well. Can't force people to like your dolls.
Everytime I post pictures, usually the most I get is 3 comments. I thought my dolls were pretty, and I thought my pictures were decent... I guess not, but atleast I like them, and I realized that's all that counts.
When I'm browsing the gallery, what I look for that makes me click on a thread is the title. sweatdrop I don't care who is posting it, or what kind of doll is in it... if the title sounds interesting then I'll look at it.

To take better quality pictures, the use of a digital SLR could help. You can play around with the depth of field option to make your subject better focused. Though digital SLRs are rather expensive, they really do help.
Another suggestion is to clean up your work and add watermarks on your pictures using Adobe photoshop or even rudimentary programs like Paint. There are many ways in which you can work on the quality of your images.
In the category of interest appeal, that requires a natural talent towards photography. If you don't have much an artist's eye, you can look up photography tips at DoA, or even search around Google for photo sites.
Over all though, I don't think it's much to complain about if you don't get a lot of comments. Like the others before me have suggested, DoA is a massive community. Smaller communities make it easier to build more personal relationships with other members. On DoA, the people who usually get more comments could be people who have been on DoA longer than you, and/or have more acquaintances than you too. There are so many different factors, so try not to take any offense by it all.

I do get a little disappointed and I think I take decent pics. Not uberawesome ones, but better than a lot of others. I only post the best ones as well. But I don't love my dolls any less. I don't worry about it. Adulation is nice but not required.
