Okay, that's enough.

So with the recent information from the 2nd episode of the Boiling Rock, what is your take on Maiko? (Zuko x Mai)
We learned a lot of important bits of information including what Zuko wrote in the letter.

First , from Mai's own mouth, she refered to Zuko as, "The boy/guy who dumped me." In the same episode, Mai tells Azula that, "I love Zuko more than I fear you," and that has got to show for something.

So it is established that Mai still has some feelings for Zuko. The only question that remains is does Zuko still have feelings for Mai which is what I want to ask all the Maiko fans.
I'm a Zutarian so obviously my hopeful answer is no but I want to hear from others. Do you think Maiko is now finished or postponed?

Even if in the cannon it's finished, the episode really made me pull for her. I had thought their relationship was awkward and cute at best, but the fact she'd fight Azula to save Zuko...That speaks volumes.
I'm waiting to see how things pan out though. Not being a Zutarian myself, I won't really lose if he picks Mai...Of course this is because I'm a Jet/Katara fan, but with him being dead I have no interest in Katara's love life.

I don't think it is over. I doubt the creators would devote this much time to developing their relationship to have it not happen. It is obvious the Mai loves Zuko, we knew that for a long time. As for Zuko, he cares for her and I think loves her. He just didn't want to get dragging down with him. Trying to be noble but she doesn't understand that yet is all.

For me, that dorky lovey dovey look he had when Sokka said "that gloomy girl who sighs a lot" shows he loves her.

Normally, those kind of events would have made me like any pairing, but not for this one, nope.

Despite my ongoing dislike, I think that they'll end up together anyways. I'm pretty sure Zuko still has feelings for her, because of the way he behaved when they met, and other little things.
it's just that for once, he's thinking about himself and what he needs to do in order to be at peace with and for the world, not to please other people. He just doesn't have the time for her right now.

This is a bit of a yes/no canon.

Yes I'd say because of how she looked at Zuko, with a little hatred but love. I must agree though, to love Zuko more than to fear Azula is big, especially since in the last about season she hasn't really spoken out or against Azula, and I haven't majorly seen it in their childhood either. I wasn't much of a Mai fan in general but I have to still also give Mai and Ty Lee their respect with that move.

No because Zuko's relationship with Katara has grown for 3 seasons, although Mai has been close to him since his childhood, Zuko seems to still be noticing and trusting of Katara. From the Zutara evidence videos it really puts the whole thing on sort of a still.

I agree, the directors wouldn't have put about 10 episodes into Maiko to ruin it at a whole. I still can't wait to see what happens to Mai and Ty Lee though.

Vote: postponed. The Gaang would have to win the war first--if they don't find out about the girls' imprisonment and make with the 'third time's the charm' for a jailbreak. Personally, I don't like the MaixZuko pairing but it does seem to be where the canon is heading anyway. Grr.

I freaking despise that pairing!!!

Over.

Rest in pieces, Maiko.

I never liked Maiko. Never. I'm not a big Zutarian, but it's way better and cuter than Blah x Emo. Mai has never been a favorite of mine, either, and her ignorance to Zuko's problems just made me hate her 10x more. I will NEVER like this ship, no matter what Mai or Zuko do.

And let's face it, canon relationships don't happen offscreen.

^I agree with that.

And think about the Fire Nation. Being banished, Zuko has experienced a lot. He has now seen people who have been scarred (both physically, ex: Song, and mentally, ex: Katara). He slowly began to understand that what the Fire Nation was doing was wrong and wishes to fix it. Mai on the other hand, has not experienced this. She has been taught, like the rest of the nation, that the Fire Nation is superior and just wants to "share" its superiority. (Or something like that.)

So, it is easy to think that Zuko is "betraying" his nation. But Mai saved him even though she didn't quite understand what Zuko was doing. Perhaps some time in jail will get her thinking though. XD

But yeah, I believe Maiko will be endgame.
