No offense, but the build in the guide kinda sucks. You shouldn't try to max two different skills at a time in this game.

To each his own.
Its a good idea, because you get the power of Mobbing Capabilities, and the power to reach higher ledges, whilst using a powerful attack on a monster at the same time.
You may think it sucks, but I find it very helpful, and I personally would advise it.
Also, its good to work like this, because, as you see in the guide, after Assaulter maxes, you still have BoT to work on, whence you work on BoT AND ME.
ME SUCKS, but it can still prove useful, thus, the 1 point each level, while you add 2 each level to BoT, as its almost Maxed out anyways.
Good idea? Yes.
The only reason you should work on one skill at a time is for damage, and thats ********, <********>, stupid, if you care for damage in this game.
Let me lay it down: Lets say you have two skills, one that requires 30 SP, and the other requires 20, or 30 even, does not matter.
Normally, you could max that 30 SP skill in 10 levels, if you just purely pump into it for retarded damage, but why not slow it down a bit, take 15 levels to max and, and gain 15 points in another skill that you possibly NEED or would GREATLY HELP YOU.
Level 70~80, 30 points, Max Assaulter. Level 85, 15 Points, Level 15 BoT OR
Level 70~80, 30 points, Level 20 Assaulter, Level 10 BoT Level 85, 15 Points, Max Assaulter, Level 15 BoT.
Same outcome, but option two is far better, as you get a power skill, and a mobbing skill AT THE SAME TIME.
Better control over monsters.
So with the first one, you can have a more powerful skill, yet it doesn't really matter, since it wont take less hits to kill a monster, you'll just be dealing more damage. There is the offchance, with some mosnters that you may be able to kill in one hit or two less, but that really doesn't matter much, especially when you have Max Endure, with the bonus MP every ten seconds. May not seem like much, and you may never notice it, but IT HELPS.

How come you add any to shield mastery? Chakra is kinda pointless considering pots.

unknown11 How come you add any to shield mastery? Chakra is kinda pointless considering pots. As is Shield Mastery, considering you learn Mesos Guard.
I find Chakra more useful.
In serious training, nonstop, you'd have little time to use it, but it does come in handy, when playing around, or training in a light to medium pace.
As opposed to shield mastery...woo.
The most common Thief shield you will see is Nimble Wristguard.
19 Wep Def.
You need at least 3 in Chakra, so that is 18 points that could go into Shield Mastery.
Shield Mastery Level 18: Defensive power +90% when shield is equipped
So, 19 wep def, times 90%...19+17=36.
Yes, its better, but just get a Maple Thief Shield to beat that, with its whopping 40 Def.
40x.90=36. 40+36=76.
That may be a good deal of weapon defense to have added, but you can do without it, with the same amount of ease as you would have WITH it. For example, let us say there is a monster that ohko's you. That extra weapon defense most likely wont make a HUGE difference, and you will most likely still die in one hit. The skill that really saves your life is Mesos Guard, as you should know.
In essence, think of Mesos Guard as your new shield, and you can completely toss aside any equipped shield...unless it has Weapon Attack added to it or something. >_>
I suppose it all depends on how you train, as I said earlier, if you're not hardcore "OMG, CAN'T STOP ATTACKING, EVER!!111!one!1" then you have plenty of time to use Chakra to heal yourself.
It is really convenient to have too.
