Hello there! I'm in need of some really good suggestions for our Senior Play! Reason being, our Director wants to do Steel Magnolias. ... Ha.
If anyone could help me with suggestions, I'd really appreciate it!
Requirement s for production:
~Must be (mostly) appropriate for all ages. ~Must have a Small-Medium cast ~No Shakespeare v_v ~COMEDY is widely prefferred. Think along the lines of Into the Woods or Kiss me Kate ~We have a small stage, and flying=not possible xD So nothing totally elaborate?
Anything helps! Thanks so much!

One of my personal favorites is The Man of La Mancha. I don't know if a Balcony is possible. With a good tech crew it takes anywhere from 3-6 hours to build a nice one with a staircase and everything.
The Foreigner, I think, would be a good play. Relatively simple set (it may require a balcony, but with a little creativity, you could weasle your way out of it) Who doesn't like The Foreigner? Nobody. A pyromaniac named "Froggy", an english man pretending to be from an unpronounceable place, preachers in the KKK, exploding trucks, what's not to like?
It might be a little scary for little kids, but it's got a good message and it's got a nice, small cast. If memory serves me correctly, I think it was 10 people, 3 of them being extras.

I've always been a fan of Rosencrants and Gildersturn are dead... but thats a small cast... Uhm... Comedy... comedy... comedy... Haha... You could butcher the Importance of Being Ernest... Then again there's always Jain Eire... yeah I screwed up the spelling but its late... Uh... the Foreigner is another good one... cast of about nine I think. I'll post more when I'm more awake.

You could always do Animal Crackers. It's a musical by George Kaufman and Morrie Rysland. cast of about 25
There is also June Moon which is written by Ring Lardner and George Kaufman. not a musical. cast of about 12
both are comedys.

I personally like Picasso at the Lapine Agile, but I don't know who age appropriate it is. It's by Steve MArtin, so it's really funny. I saw it at Mizzou and I also did a project on it for my theatre class. My high school almost did it last year, so it can't be that bad. Oh yeah! Try My Three Angels. I don't know who wrote it, but I loved it when I saw it. Funny, with a good message.

Picasso at the Lapin Agile is hilarious, but not very age appropriate (especially for things like why pictures of Jesus can not be in a bedroom). My Three Angels is a fun play that is pretty age appropriate with a cast of 10. I did it my Freshman year, and we have a pretty small stage and not much in terms of special effects. I think that the hardest thing is having a live chicken, though you can probably change that part.

Well, I have a play in mind that woudl be hard to pull off but Sound of Music is wonderful. Even though it isn't much of a comedy, all you need is a few good singers/ actors/actresses and you're set.
