as usual the line art is shitty. i mis placed the ears and her elbow/arm length is questionable. oh and her nose. Its a style i'm experimenting with.

any other suggestions? have i improved my photoshop skills at all?

oh and another pic i revisited. just with colors though.

I'm not sure how I like the nose of the first girl, though. I realize it's supposed to be stylized, but to be honest, it just doesn't look right. It almost makes her look like she doesn't have a nose at all.

The second one is really cute, but I'm not sure how I like her arm fading into the border - maybe if it just cut off before the border instead of overlapping, it might look better. She could also do with another shoulder!

The first one definitely shows improvement, though. The colors and lines look much better than some of the other things you've posted.

I gotta agree with Tiger, the nose looks rather strange. Also, the mouth tilts very severely downwards which, even if it's meant to be stylised, looks very at odds with the angle of the eye.
The main thing that bothers me about that picture is the arm - it's way too small and seems to be, umm, melting and drooping to one side.

I'd say pull the top of the lip in a a little more and put the nose out a couple of degrees. It will stop people going eek no nose? and start them going mrgreen cool colours!

i think it might be nice to see you experiment with more detail in your work. The simple lineart and colors is charming and cute and all, but it doesn't hurt to pull out something new every once and a while, and there are ways to do it without casting aside the style that you like.

For instance, for the elf princess character portrait, you could have elaborated more on aspects of her design, clothing in particular. He costume is very basic...hardly any reference to texture or decoration...where as if she's a princess you might expect some more expensive looking clothing. Maybe some lace on the glove, brocade on the sleeve and decoration on the armor.

Or if shes into plain clothes, you could focus on the material of the clothing, show some stiching or other detail that's purely functional. wrinkles in the gloves to show they've been worn...etc.

either way, it makes the piece more effective as a portrait because it informs of more of who the character is.
