Random off-topic comment: Adric has pouty porn star lips. xd

Anyway, back on topic:
I thought this episode was pretty funny:
*Donna "Super Temp"'s rant at the general or whatever he was as she introduced herself and asked for a salute.
*The Doctor prattling on and on thinking Donna was leaving for good
*The duck and dive attempt to get away from a non-exploding ATMOS
*UNIT soldier "What are you gonna do? Bite our ankles?" ZAP!

I can't decide if I think Donna's mother is funny or not. I think maybe it's Donna's and her grandfather's reactions to the woman that are more funny than she is.

I agree that the Rattigan kid needs to die. Bad Rattigan. No biscuit.

At one point at the end when Gramps is trapped in the car, the Doctor runs off, and I thought he was going to go steal one of the other cars to ram him and break the windows open to get him out of there. Turns out, the Doctor was just running away to stare out into the fog. Random.

I don't like how short they ended up. What happened? I have to dig the tapes out again but I remember Sontarans coming just about eye-to-eye with Pertwee and Tom and they're both 6"+ guys. Did all the years of cloning stunt their growth? In a few more centuries are we gonna see miget Sontarans?

These are apparently the new, compact, energy-efficient Sontaran clone models. The next step is to make them solar powered so they can get rid of those silly probic vents. mrgreen

Can't say I could judge this episode entirely without watching the second part, but overall from what I say I liked it. Better then I was expecting. Better then last week =]

Very...purple i found.
I quite liked the new sontaran outfit...if a bit ...power rangers.
After Helen Raynors last written dw two parter (daleks in manhattan/evolution of the daleks) I didnt have much hope for this episode, but it proved me wrong...slightly. Well, afterall I think my 'blue suit' hatred (discussed briefly in the last episode post) is gone after the sontaran stragegem =D
However I thought the whole 'the doctor doesnt like guns' thing was overly stressed, I mean he didnt seem to mind when mickey had a big a** gun in doomsday did he? And the doctor himself is one to seem to like the odd blowing of things up...which surely isnt that different...

One thing i do like about Raynor's writing though, is the minor other characters thrown in to her episodes, what i found about DIM/EOTD was the only thing i liked was the pig and the showgirl (and frank for that matter)...like in that way I too liked some minor characters, here being (strangely) Luke Rattigan...even if he is a bit of an arrogant twit and has a bit of a dodgy american accent. I also liked Ross (...as the doctor says...) and I hope he makes a reappearance in the poision sky!

Does anyone else sense a massive "Silvia slap' coming the Doctor's way anytime soon?

What's a Silvia slap?

It's apparently the New Who policy that every companion's mother gets to smack the Doctor at least once.

Nice episode, but the whole Sontar-HA! chant lasted about 30 seconds too long in my opinion.

People, people. I think we're all missing the big picture here.

General Staal is Mike from The Young Ones.

And now I find myself wondering if I've always thought Vyvyan sounds like a Dalek, and whether Ade Edmonson falls outside Russel T. Davies' apparent mandate that no-one over 40 should play The Doctor (a stipulation I must say that, if true, I find complete and utter twaddle).

I think he says it with a heavy heart. After all, Davies own dream Doctor is Bill Nighy.

Poor chap. I still think it's complete and utter twaddle mind, but then I'm not the kids that they're (quite rightly) catering to, nor am I someone who goes on about what a bad job Russel T. Davies is doing as if I could do better. The people who are seem to be the ones that think every episode should be a sequel to 1974's Rhubarb Crumble of the Daleks.

On the subjects of older Doctors, I find that now when I listen to a Fifth Doctor audio I'm picturing Peter Davison as he was in Time Crash. Anyone else?

I had a more serious problem while listening to The Church and the Crown.

Lovely little Davison audio, but since it's got Musketeers, Louis XIII and Cardinal Richelieu then it's impossible for a child of the Eighties such as myself not to visualise these guys...

I would ask you to marry me but that would upset too many people.

The Church & The Crown 's one of the audios I've been dying to hear. I love Alexandré Dumas.

And would never have read any of his work were it not for Dogtagnan.

Ditto Jules Verne and Willy Fog.

Puns this week were terribly awesome!

Sontarans: "Intruder alert! Intruder alert!"
Doctor: "And how'd I get in? Intruder window?"

That wretched kid genius invaded my dreams the night after I watched it and tried to kill me and my roommate!
