"You want me to do what now?" Drawled Alijatra in his accent, staring at the little child who reminded him far too much of Rufalan for his own liking. He wasn't sure how, but the child he was currently holding out in front of him, like a disease piece of meat, disturbed him. He was loud. He was fixated on him, and he was reaching out for his hair.

"I want you to take him to Patrick's house. I've written his address on this piece of paper, as well as directions to get there. You CAN stop holding the child like he's going to poison you, Ali. Honestly, it's just a baby."

"Yes, exactly. It's a baby."
The Meiyestan looked at Ianna with a raised brow before shaking his head, carefully moving him to a more civilized position in the crook of his arm.

"Just go and don't let anything happen to him."

"And what if this Patrick refuses to care for the little meat sack?"

"Alijatra, don't--Oh, forget it. If he refuses, you just get to convince him. Tell him Ianna says it'd be a personal favor. That he's been abandoned three times. Now GO." She huffed and turned on a heel, storming off to do whatever it was she was doing holed up in her room these days.

Sighing, Ali looked down at the child, then at the address on the table and picked it up, committing it to memory and shoving it in one of the pouches at his side. With one last glare in the direction Ianna went, Ali left the Headquarters and made his way to this Patrick-things house.

It didn't take him too incredibly long - since one he was outside he decided to abandon the whole walking thing, spread his usually concealed wings, and took off into the air. The baby seemed to enjoy it, and had stopped trying to chew off the beads on his tribal-like outfit. He landed when he was in the relative vicinity of the house and walked the rest of the way.

And then, it was up to him to ring the doorbell and it couldn't have come sooner. The meat sack was being loud again.

Patrick had been playing with clay with Katura when the noise of the doorbell rang through. It was the professional sort of clay, thick, ugly and gray. The dining room table had been coated with a protective sheet of paper, damp and almost vomit-inducing with the ugly. Katura was having the time of his life, building little houses and the like as he constantly pounded and re-shaped the clay into something better and prettier.

The older man glanced up at the doorbell and pushed himself away from the table, shaking out his hands idly. Clay splattered every which way (Katura giggled) but he didn't really care. Hell, he was wiping his hands on the worn jean as he made his way to the door, smearing them with the destructive dirt. Patrick yanked the door open to come face to face with some weird a** dude with a kid.

He stared at him for a minute.

"Dude, we don't eat babies. I just told the Swan truck guy that. Sorry, man, but try the green house down the block. They have cats so I bet they're into all sorts of freaky crap."

"We eat babies!" Katura squealed from the house. "What do you think happened to the Smiths twins? Iamel SAID it was tofu but he lied."

".... So maybe we do eat babies. We're full up, though."

Well, wasn't this guy...short. And charming. Seriously. The seven foot tall half dragon quirked a brow at the talk of eating babies, "Right. I do not make a habit of eating squalling piles of flesh either. I was given a mission to deliver the thing to you, so here he is, and good luck with him."

Finally shifting the boy from the crook of his arm, putting him in a more comfortable position (I.E. holding him out like a bag of garbage by his armpits) and waited for Patrick to take the child from his grasp. Because he was going to drop him in ten seconds if it wasn't taken from him.

"He came from a wand."

That was helpful.

Fortunately for Patrick, tall dudes didn't intimidate him. Vic was tall an GIGANTIC. Wider then the doorway. Freak of nature, his boyfriend. Thing. Person. He just looked up, scrawny arms crossing over an equally thing chest. Hn. Baby.

He automatically reached for the kid and took hold of the heavy little thing rather easily. Bennu blathered in baby-tongue to him, reaching for the brightly colored plastic bracelets around his wrists. He was getting attention! He was getting attention from many people and it was good. Right?

"Wait. What? No. You are NOT giving me this kid. No. A - A Ghost? NO. I already have one! He's grouchy and my other kid threatens to break his spine!"

Patricks protests were attracting attention from inside the house. Katura had abandoned his clay to watch the scene and Akuti had crept from her room, teal eyes wide behind her bangs.

"No. No, take the little spawn back. No."

Thank god he took the child. His hands dropped to his sides and the thin man turned, spreading his wings and about ready to walk off. That was until Patrick started protesting taking the kid. Alijatra didn't laugh, though he was tempted, and turned his head, showing his poisonous fangs. "You will take the child, Patrick, because there is no one else."

He still had his own stick, which was tied at his side by natural leather strips. He'd tried to leave it behind every time he left but Ianna had eyes like a ******** hawk and he rather preferred carrying it to hearing Ianna's tirades of responsibility.

"I am leaving here empty handed. What you do with him is up to you."

"Uh, no dude. Screw you." Patrick stormed right after the walking mantis with his lips pulled into a fierce scowl. He didn't WANT another kid. He didn't WANT another WAND. Yashima had traumatized him ENOUGH, damnit! You could only wake up to screaming, sobbing children blathering about killer goddesses and psycho fox things ripping out your throat so many times.

No. No, no, NO.

He held the kid out at an arms length, towards the lanky thing. "Take. The. Kid."

Poor Bennu looked as if he was about to burst into tears. Abandoned three times, getting attention but now it was BAD loud attention and there were no cuddles. Things were not going as they should. He was two seconds away from screaming when a very soft voice slipped into the conversation.

"I..I can take care of him." Akuti almost whispered, her gangly frame half-hidden in the doorway. Still awkward in her tall gait and satyr legs, she was wearing overalls and still managed to look like a wilting violet. The girl hesitated and slipped from the house, shifting nervously once she was in the sun.

"I mean...If it's okay? Daddy? I was getting that apartment anyway...So.."

Alijatra had started walking again but stopped when Patrick stormed after him, turning around and looking at him with mild amusement in his green eyes, "You are quite an amusing human," he murmured, "And quite an annoying one. The meat-sack is going to start crying soon. I suggest you quell it, as it's quite painful on the ears."

This? This was Alijatra being 'polite' and actually being formal. Which was not something that the man did...ever. But he figured it would go over better than being the a*****e he usually was. He knew when to employ some kind of diplomacy and it was usually when he wanted something.

"Yes. Let the girl take the parasite."

He paused, debating whether or not to impart the information Ianna had given him or not, "He's a phoenix. He's been abandoned three times. Ianna does not know why. I frankly applaud them for getting rid of it." He indicated to the wand at his side, "I would if I did not have the honor I do. Now. Can I go now, or will I have to get nasty?"

"And you're quite the annoying not-human. I put up with enough crap from inhuman people like you that I don't see the need to keep doing it with someone I just met." He snarked in return, still frowning at the irritating half-dragon. Who cared if this guy was huge and jerky? But... Akuti did, apparently. Augh.

Patrick turned to face his daughter, expression now stricken. "Akuti. This is a baby. It eats, poops, screams and sleeps. That's all it does. You don't want a baby right now. Let tall, angry, and femme here take him. Even ... if he has been abandoned three.... Augh, damnit. Here."

She took the infant and cooed at it. Bennu, pleased at the new person, the teal hair and the sudden explosion of attention, brightened immediately. Little fists grabbed at her hair and the little pheonix granted her a sweet, beaming smile. Adorable. Akuti beamed right back.

"...augh. I'm a grandfather again."

...Had he just been called 'femme'? Oh. ********. No. Kaiore was femme. Taran was femme. Jallai was femme (well, she was a girl)...and Nicolai was more female than male, and he was sure his p***s had gotten turned into a v****a at some point...But he was not FEMME. Considering he associated that with Taran and Nicolai, currently his two most loathed people in the world, being called it was not good.

"Listen here, Patrick," Alijatra spat, venom finally making its' way into his voice, "I'm not femme, I'm not a ponce, and I'm most definitely not anything akin to those things. If you want to keep what little flesh you seem to have in tact, you will keep any further comments on what you think of as feminine to yourself in my presence."

The tanned man snapped his wings back audibly, the crack filling the air before his eyes trailed to the girl now holding Bennu, "His name is Bennu. Good luck."

And with that, and a deep bow, he turned and started down the walkway again.

"Huh?" Patrick sounded confused as the man ranted or vented or whatever the hell it was. He stared at him until he was quite finished, his arms once more crossed over his chest. "When did I call you 'femme', man? You look like a dude."

"Daddy," Akuti whispered, peeking over bennus head, "You called him 'tall, angry, and femme' when you were telling me I didn't want a baby."

Patrick continued to look confused; had he? The man was a genius but his mouth had no filter. He ha no clue what he said half of the time. If they both heard him say femme, then he said femme! The long hair WAS really girlie, though.

"Oh. Sorry, man." Patrick raised one hand for a cheeky little wave. "I didn't mean to. I don't even remember it. Have a nice day and all that."

Akuti just sighed. This was going to be fun.

Ali decided to ignore Patrick's moment of stupid, shaking his head and pulling his wings back out before taking off into the skies. He'd done his errand for Ianna and thus all things requiring his attention were officially taken care of and he could go...Do whatever he wanted. Then again, in Gaia, there wasn't much to do. Not that he knew about anyway. Not that he wanted to socialize either.

Well. At least Ianna couldn't call him a lazy b*****d today!

[Mothers Day]

Bennu was an expert at blowing bubbles. Not in the bath, mind you, as he hated the water, but with spit, especially after drinking milk.

He would sit there with his eyes crossed to his nose and little lips pursed. Akuti would sit and watch him (often times with a camera of some sorts) as his cheeks puffed out and a bubble of spit emerged.

Such a talented boy.

This time, he beamed when she laughed, successfully ruining all efforts in one wet pop. Akuti laughed as his face scrunched; se scooped him up and stood, tickling him. The infant squealed, grabbed at her hair, and kept smiling.

There had been long nights of tears and wailing - but those were long past. Akuti had taken to child raising like a duckling to water and, as her family had seen, was flourishing.

"Today is a special day, mister Bennu!" She ingored him, sweet voice pleased. "Today is the day I sign papers for the bookstore. Your momma will own her very own business - a book store! That means youo get to spend a lot of time there now. Alright?"

He babbled nonsense. Akuti grinned, fingertips tickling him again, just lightly. "It's not very big but I like it. It's very sweet. We'll bring you some time and have fun!"

It was obviously alright with him. The sudden raspberry said so.
