Darbie sat on the rubber swing, trying to slow down, with handfuls of wood chips flying each time her feet happened to scrape across the ground. The swing was really too small for her, but she wouldn't let that stop her. It was the only playground she had found on her travels throughout the park, so she was going to play on it as much as she could. Feeling that her attempt to slow down was taking too long, she gained a bit of speed and, when she reached as high as she could, Darbie launched herself off of the swing. She cleared a good distance before she landed on her feet. Her forward motion didn't stop, though, and she fell forward, wood chips digging into her knees. To stop herself from falling, she flung her hands in front of her and they happened to land on the sidewalk beyond the playground area. Flinching as the pavement scraped her skin, she whined slightly at the pain. It would not get the best of her, though, so she stood up, put her hands in the air, and cheered for herself. "Woo, cleared the landing!" The dog called, ignoring the stinging in her hands and knees.

A short distance away in the vicinity of the jungle gym, an excessively fluffy orange fox was nosing his way around, peering in all directions. Maari had once again gotten the best of him, and convinced him that he was simply the only one who could successfully locate Turner, the latest child to have wandered off. It was always something, some youngster or other wandering off to play without permission, and since Chiore was too polite and non-confrontational for his own good, it always seemed to be he who got the job of going to find them.
Today had been no exception, and so here he was, in the playground, searching for a child who did not want to be found. "I hope he didn't wander near the lake," he thought with a slight shudder. He certainly wasn't venturing there to find him!
The fox's ears twitched slightly as he heard a sound nearby. Turner, perhaps? Turning to investigate, he found a fully-grown dog instead of the puppy he'd been looking for. A very interestingly-colored dog, in fact... Curious, he wandered closer.

Darbie flailed her arms for a few moments, to emphasize her highly impressive landing. But, when the air caused her right hand, the one she had landed on harder, to sting more, she stopped the odd waving and licked at the palm of her hand in an attempt to make it hurt less. When that failed to work, though, she decided that she'd have to get a few band-aids out of the bag she had remembered to bring. When she turned, she noticed a fox coming near her. He seemed to be looking at her, so she looked behind herself to make sure there was nobody else to be seen. Satisfied that there wasn't, she turned back, waved to him cheerfully, and skipped closer to him. "Hello, do you want to congratulate me on my perfect landing?!" She asked, excitement obvious in her voice, as she saw no other reason for him to be coming toward her.

As Chiore observed first the girl's flailing, then attempt to lick her wounds, and finally her unusual greeting, followed by the mention of a landing... He quickly came up with the highly intelligent response of "uh?" He had no idea what she was talking about, but she seemed nice enough, so he attempted to pull himself together, and shook his head. "I'm sorry, I didn't see your landing," he said politely, then held out a hand for her to shake. "My name is Chiore. I was looking for someone when I noticed you here." He tilted his head, giving her a quick look up and down. "You're quite colorful, you know. You caught my eye."
The dog's markings vaguely reminded him of something, but he couldn't quite think of what... His large tail swished across the grass as he pondered. If he couldn't figure it out, it would inevitably bug him for the rest of the day.

"Darbie's m'name." She pointed to herself with her thumb, pleased to be able to introduce herself, before she frowned. "You should have seen it. I could really be a pro-swing jumper." Darbie did a quick twirl on one foot, feeling jumpy at trying to stand in one place for that long. "I'm glad to catch your eye, though; I love being noticed by people." She smiled brightly and finally took his offered hand in both of hers before shaking it roughly. "If I did have wings, though, I doubt anybody would be able to ignore my presence." She laughed lightly, alluding to her markings. The dog skipped a few feet away, and turned back to Chiore. "Ahh, but who're you looking for? I wouldn't mind helping you look for them."

As much as he'd seen in his household, as many weirdos as he'd known, Chiore couldn't help feeling a little overwhelmed by the sheer energy of this strange dog. "Must be serving coffee with breakfast again," he pondered as his hand was shook. "If you had wings, I expect nothing could tie you to the earth," he said with a smile, following her as she wandered in a seemingly aimless fashion. "I'm sorry I missed it, really." He paused a moment to muse over one of her statements; "Do they really have a pro league for swing-jumping...?" He muttered, thinking aloud as he had a bad habit of doing. "Ah," the fox said in a more audible tone, looking up at Darbie. "Just one of the kids from my household... He ran off again." Frowning, he shook his head. "They always send me to find the little rascals..."
