Jecht920 Except that the Avatar state has been sealed off now. He can't do it anymore because of Azula... If you've seen pictures of the season three volume four DVD or even the accursed Sozin's Comet book cover, Aang is in the Avatar State. He learns to let go of Katara somehow and unlock his last chakra. We just don't know how yet. ... Unless it's in that book, which you shouldn't read anyway. >.>
True love is feeling a strong bond to someone and wanting whatever is best for them and will make them happy. I'm not going to use personal examples, because you'd all think I was mental. ... But yes. If you truly love someone, you'll be able to accept losing them or not having them. Wanting them for yourself is selfish love, like was said. Letting them go, though still caring for them is possible, and is real love. Aang and Katara don't necessarily have to be apart either. He can be able to accept that he must let her go, but nevertheless, "When love is real, it finds a way."

That episode was the tipping point that got me to dislike Kataang, for a number of reasons.
When Aang and the Guru were dealing with the chakra of grief(or something like that, and it was BEFORE the attachment one), the Guru asks Aang to think about the love he misses/grieves about, (again, I'm not going word for word for word here), and he thinks about all the monks he knew before the war. Then he is asked to think about the new love that had been born again, and his mind automatically went to Katara.
So, WTF? What about Sokka and Toph? Do they not matter? Does he not care about them or something? Or even Appa, who just a few episodes before that he was shitting himself for?
And isn't the love you feel for your mom, dad or family different from the love you feel for your boyfriend or girlfriend? And this can't be the "unconditional love" you said, because this was BEFORE the attachment chakra, and even then he couldn't do it then.
I am going to say with confidence that Aang didn't start loving loving Katara until the third season, if at all. He just wasn't mature enough. I could go into that more, but not right now.
But yes, the Avatar State is blocked off because of Azula, not the Katara tissue-issue.

-Is escorted out of the room by the men in white-Oddly enough, I really have no interest whatsoever in ships. I really could care less about who ends up with who, honestly, it just bores me. Except for this, and it's mostly because of this episode. Bryke ruined the end of a really good episode, just for their mediocre shipping. That Katara part was in general just lazy-ship writing, (which in the end is okay, it's their show after all) but they left a lot of plot-holes and things, all just because they like the idea of Aang and Katara being a couple. Which really keeps them from being great show masterminds. T heir way of "It's OUR show, and we want Aang to be with Katara! So we're going to come up with a crappy explanation for them, even if it doesn't make sense!"
