Well, just remember everyone has to start somewhere! So if you think you suck at drawing now, so did every other artist out there at some point! XDD

There are plenty of guides to drawing on the internet. They will often teach you the basic proportions for drawing things - faces, anatomy etc.

For beginners, it's highly recommended that you use references for your pictures. Start off with simple drawings, maybe just front on pictures in simple standing poses, and then you can work on it from there.

** I started drawing when I was little, and I just drew faces, then I started drawing down to the bust and then full body. I think tried more creative poses and clothing, and now I'm currently working on having more dynamics, perspective and backgrounds. ^^

The key to drawing is always practice!

Practise, practise, practise, and you'll slowly get a grasp on things. It is the best way for an artist to improve; almost every artist will agree with me on this.

The most important thing is to not give up on art. As the youngest in my family, I always felt a bit inferior to my very artistic siblings, and often felt like giving up because I wasn't any good at the time compared to my sisters. But they always reminded me, that if I gave up, that'd be the end of my art. So I tried hard to practise and improve, and I (hopefully!) don't suck at art anymore. ;D

You should post up some of your work for us to see. Getting criticism on your work is not a bad thing. As long as you don't take it as an insult, but as something constructive and helpful. :3

Cloverella is right.
Everyone *does* have to start somewhere.
If you need help on proportions and the body, try getting a wooden model.
(I remember that my art teacher had one of those, very helpful :3)

Try drawing, maybe a few simple things around the house, like a table, the TV, maybe even a book. Its a start, and as long as you practice, you'll find yourself getting better each and every time. Then once you've had enough, get some drawing books or surf the net for some drawing guides (They helped, not only me but many others ;D).

Find something you think you might enjoy drawing; that way it is more fun and enjoyable.

And most importantly, whatever you do, don't give up.

If you just want something to do, try drawing your own characters, because that way, its your own work and people can't say that something is that wrong with it (except maybe proportions) because you made it yourself.

I really wish I had some of my old works now cause I would love to show some of my early more awful looking pics... Wait I think I have one really really old one and I can compare it to something that is similar in appearance ^^

Older Work==================================Newer Work

Granted the newer could use some more work too but that was what practice, practice, and more practice does... I know I'm not a great artist I know where I need a LOT of work in. I can say that I felt like quitting at drawing because I thought I wasn't doing any good. But something my mom said to me kept me going. "Do you like what you do?" I replied with a yes. "Then don't draw because you don't think you're any good, draw because you like to. And work at where you need work and keep with what you know you're good at."

your job is to find kitten

well, the first place to start is to figure out what you want to draw. by that I mean basically a style. manga, life, charcoal stuff like that. Think about what you want to draw next, if it's something you can look at and draw, go out and sit down and draw it. If it's manga however, I would suggest just work on a single part of the body at one time. after you work with it long enough, you'll realize what's off about the picture. a lot of times the anatomy screws things up and makes it look wrong when it's right, but you must change it. The best advise I can offer you is to just keep practicing every single day. I started drawing three years ago and I can't believe how much I've improved. Seriously just practice, and always take critiques seriously.

this job will be made impossible by the interference of things that are not kitten

I think the key to becoming a good artist is finding something you like to draw! Don't be embarrised, it can be anything, in any style! After a while you'll become good enough, or bored enough to try something new, but the skills you develop will be carried over. I did eight years of fine arts at a school after primary/high school on wednesdays, then I really got into anime, now I'm into Photomanipulation and I work in advertising. There's really no telling where you can go with art, I think creativity is the only underlying skill you need.

i dont know...reading these replies make art seem complicated to me...
its just an opinion.... sweatdrop
but art is about EXPRESSION,not if it looks good or if it makes sense...
it's ART!its free to be what it wants! blaugh
even a simple stick figure is art...
just practice...
let the creativity flow through you and onto the paper when you're drawing...
the more you can channel that creativity into your hands, the "better" you'll be at art biggrin
hope that helps! rofl

Dunno if it will help; but here's what i think,
find something you wanna draw and put your self somewhere where your comfortable and happy, i always draw while listening to music and sometimes the stlye/genre can help, like if your drawing something dark listen to Slipknot and for happy Taylor Swift, thats what i do, and just have fun and fiddle around like if your doing aperson start with the head and then next time try starting with the feet, until you find a way u like, dunno if that helps but HAVE FUN, plastic surgery is right i think, it is the most important thing ^^

you know just be happy on what you like and always practice check out some artwork (not for you to be jealous but to get an inspiration)always pring pencil and paper and if you think that you are beginner start copying some of the styles of artist just for basis(not all ! sometimes it results for being uncreative or lack of originality) don't be frustrated if you cannot draw that you cannot draw this, all of us has weaknesses.

hope this helps!
