Some friends of mine have wanted to do something special for Tom for his birthday, something big like him; something big like the impact he's had on the show. I think it's a fine idea so I agreed to post their message.

If you participate, please make any messages short and sweet. Tom Welling, if a lot of people participate, will get a lot of cards and notes so a simple "Happy Birthday, Tom!" will probably be perfect.

If you want to give feedback to Valerie, see her post on her livejournal HERE.

Don't forget to get these out soon since Tom's 31st birthday is on April 26th, which is just a few days before SMALLVILLE is scheduled to stop filming.

MISSION OBJECTIVE:

To wish Tom Welling a very happy 31st birthday, and at the same time show this talented actor a little fandom love.

MISSION PARAMETERS:

Well, it’s really simple. Send a birthday card. That’s it! Or maybe, a postcard with a personalized greeting. Whatever works best for you. It’s not complicated. Make it a serious card, and write him a little note. Or find a funny card, and just sign your name. Make some SV artwork on your computer, print it out, and stick it in an envelope.

Like I said, its so simple! It's up to you to find the best way to wish the big guy an awesome B-Day!

The address to the Smallville studio is provided at the bottom of this message. It appears that the show will be filming until almost the very end of April, but that is fast approaching. So, we’ll need to get this mission underway with strike force like speed.

Unfortunately, due to the time crunch, there’s no time to try and gather up the greetings in one place, and send it in one big package. So, it’s up to all of you to join in on the mission, and send something yourself, directly. It’s just the cost of a card/postcard, and the postage to get it from where you are to Vancouver, BC, Canada.

And please, for those of you located outside of the USA and Canada, please consider joining the effort. You might have to get that mailed ASAP, but just think how cool it would be for him to get a birthday card from Australia? Or Brazil? Or Japan? Or France?

One request though. It would be nice if we could show that this is an organized effort. To do so, I believe all that’s required would be for all of us to include “OPERATION BIRTHDAY CARD” somewhere on the outside of your envelope. Let him know that we’re all in this together.

Feedback is totally welcome, and the more we can spread this message, the more mail the poor SV staff has to handle. Also, it would be really great to get an idea of how many people have decided to join us. So, if you could leave a message and let us know that you dropped something in the mail, we’d appreciate it. If you want to keep your participation anonymous, consider just sending an email or private message.

I think for those of us who came up with this idea, we just really wanted to do a “BIG” thing for Tom’s birthday, just this once. I know other actors on the show have had their birthdays celebrated by their fans by doing charity fund drives. Which is great! But all we’re asking is for you to send a card. And somehow, I think we’d all agree that the simplicity of the gesture seems most fitting for our Mr. Welling.

Signed

Valerie, Carol, Iliana and Pep

Gah.

I might have time to do something this weekend (it would be awesome to send a Happy Birthday from England) -- it might not get there on time though.

Symptoms of OSD
(Obsessive Smallville Disorder)
1. You LIVE for Thursdays because Smallville is your weekly recharge. Plus there must be absolute silence for one hour; otherwise you’ll have a fit if you miss anything.
2. S/M/A/L/L/V/I/L/L/E/. My anti-drug.
3. You know what a ship is and have a fav one. [GO CLANA!]
4. You check Kryptonsite daily for updates and spoilers.
5. You discuss Smallville with online communities even when it’s on hiatus, especially during the summer.
6. You’re online 5 minutes after the episode to discuss your views and discontinuity issues.
7. You think TOM Welling is the HOTTEST man alive and JAMIE is the LUCKIEST woman alive. And even though you might get envious at times, you still think that they’re the cutest couple ever, and you love them both.
8. You know Michael is a SPAZ in real life after watching the blooper reels and interviews.
9. You start thinking that Michael’s baldness is kinda sexy. ;D
10. You own every piece of Smallville fan merchandise, including the season DVD’s, calendars, episode guides, season companions, sound tracks, etc.
11. You can name each episode by title, number, and season.
12. You wish Chloe and Lois were your BFFL’s.
13. There’s no such thing as too much Ollie or Kara.
14. You quote your fav lines even in daily life. [“I wanna be your bro, not your foe.”]
15. You cringed during Lexana scenes and when Stride was over advertised.
16. Reckoning and/or Promise made you cry.
17. You know there will always be some absurd explanation of those ridiculous plotlines.
18. The writer’s strike was the most irritating few months of your life.
19. You got jealous of the people featured on the Ultimate Fan documentary but they really did take the cake.
20. All you friends are updated on Smallville even if they don’t watch it because of your episode summaries/rants on Friday mornings.
21. You have dressed up or had a party in honor of premieres, finales, and special episodes.
22. Your dream vacation would be to spend one day on the set filming with the cast.
23. Your Myspace & Facebook is pimped out with Smallville icons galore. And you spend your free time creating or looking for cool fan pictures.
24. Even if you don’t like the comics, you would buy any item with the Superman symbol.
25. You would go to Comicon just to meet the cast & producers.
26. You know all the actor’s names and career history by heart. But you know they like their privacy, so you respect their private life. And you always support their other endeavors.
27. You have fantasized about Smallville at one time or another.
28. If you had money, you would bid on Smallville memorabilia on Ebay and Amazon.
29. You’re going to miss Al & Miles as producers but you’re welcome to change, as long as Lana and Lex come back to visit often.
30. You resist the urge to think about the END because the thought makes you wanna cry, but you know that it’s been a long, amazing run. The ending will never make us forget the memories of our fav show that got us through high school.
31. You would send a singing birthday card to our star actor Tom. And you still can’t believe that our lil Tommy is 31, so you decide to write him a list of 31 things to prove how dedicated his fans are.
So here’s to you Tom, have a WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY; And best wishes for a long, successful career in whatever you decide to do! Your fans love you!!! XOXO Sasha <3
PS. Make sure you show everyone in the cast & crew this list, because it’s for all of you! 

*i sent this with the card xd
