Hi, I play trumpet in the school band, but last year I got braces during the summer. It's been way harder to play, especially high notes, but I really like the trumpet. Does anyone have tips to help me with my music until they come off?

It helps to put floral tape over your braces before you play(at least until you get used to it) But after you get your braces off(depending on how long you have them) you can't play high notes!!!(at first...it took me about a month D*X)...hmmm, it might help if you knew that I got my braces on right before my second year, and I had to have them on for 3 years DX
Buy its nice once you get them off... =)

hahaha, probably something to cover to cover the thingos that hold the brackets so your mouth doesn't feel like its been stabbed after a while of playing, I have a fellow trumpeteer(excuse that extremely gay word, my trumpet teacher is so corny) in my group who has braces, he did this funny thing with his mouth, I'll ask him when I go back to school on Tuesday(no I dont have a weird school, its a curriculum day) and I will tell you what he did.

The only thing I can say is to practice a lot. I too play trumpet with braces, and I must say, sometimes you just got to kinda play through the pain. I know that's kind a harsh thing to say, but if you're in a marching band at the time, that's just what you got to do. Only time will tell how screwed up my lips are from it.
Now if you want to be better that bone-head Elfie here, I suggest trying to use less pressure when you play. A different mouthpiece may help, but don't count on it. It's not going to solve all you problems.
Did I mention to practice a lot? xp
