mad

i have a calc II exam tomorrow. i'm hoping for a c, which means i'll pass the class with a c, which means i can move on and be one step closer to being done with math FOREVER MWAHAHAHA.

i don't mind stuff like i've done in chem. it's mostly algebra, which means it's doable for me. and simple derivative and integration? no big. we get along well.

but polar coordinates? convergence tests? trig substitution?

ohgodpleasekillmenow. gonk

and it doesn't help that i've never taken trig, and that my roommate had to explain the unit circle to me (it was the first time i'd ever heard of it xD).

the extent of my trig experience is a couple days i spent on sohcahtoa in algebra II my junior year of high school.

so yeah, i just spent three hours studying and i don't feel any more prepared than when i started because there's a ******** of different material, and it's all over my head. and i was talking to chem profs the other day, and they were all like, "yeah, you'll only use the basic stuff. never the advanced."

STUPID GODDAMN ******** MATH.

Augh! I know what you mean. I'm in AlgII right now and it's doable and all but the crap takes so long to process through my brain. Which sucks esp. during tests which I usually get a C on whilst the rest of my work/quizzes are A's.

Test should not count as 70% of your grade and my math teacher should be less emo/creepy smile because he didn't get the science teacher position he applied for.

How amusing.
I just used the unit circle yesterday.

Radians are stupid imo.

inorite, the dude who invented radians needs a crowbar to the face.

but w/e, my test is done, and i might have actually pulled off a c. i'll be amped if i did.

@tootsie: eew, big tests suck. especially if you know you can do it, but you're just stressed about the test. D:

Just... how the hell did you make it TO Calc II, without knowing what a unit circle is?! O_O

Dear god, trig substitution must have been a b***h for ya... x_x I mean, not that it isn't for everyone who takes that damn class, but still, it'd be even more so! @_@

At least, well, let me tell you from experience, the trig and the unit circle only get worse... and it gets 3d in Calc 3... >_>

But Calc 2 is at least twice as hard as Calc 3 will ever be... o.o

And dE was just plain fun! n_n

and, so you know, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE who takes that damn class feels the exact same way as you... just so many different kinds of crap you gotta memorize for Calc II...

But, I am one of the odd ones that didn't have much trouble with the series... o_o

And if it makes you feel any better... "smart" Sibby only managed to get a C in that class as well... and just barely... x_x

However, it only gets easier from this class on, just remind yourself of that.... n_n (not a walk in the park easier, but at least somewhat easier)

Just, to scare ya.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spherical_coordinates

that's just a taste of a little of the stuff you do in calc 3... oh, and did I mention that you get to do derivatives of said stuff...

^_______________________^

And hopefully you did well on said test! n_n

Edit: Oh, and I concur...

haha, well it's kind of interesting. i did pretty good on the SAT, so my advisor recommended skipping precalc and going right into calc. i had no idea what was going on, so i just went with it.

calc I wasn't that bad, so i just figured i could make it. but then trig substitution happened, and i basically bsed my way through that section somewhat successfully. polar coordinates is harder to bs though. xD

homework was interesting before my roommate taught me the unit circle. i was all "hmm, 4pi/3 sounds like it could be over heeere..." and would just pick a spot. needless to say i failed that homework assignment miserably. x3

this summer i'm going to take precalc at the community college, so hopefully i'll have an idea of what's going on next year. calc III is my last hard math class, after that is just statistics. then i'm DONE FOREVER YAY.

but yeah, my test went ok. i might have pulled a c in the class, which would make me super duper happy.

@spherical coordinates: oh s**t, i'm ********. i have a hard enough time graphing in 2d, and now they want to throw in another dimension? dayum. Dx

If you want a REALLY good site to study from, http://schools.spsd.sk.ca/mountroyal/Hoffman/index.htm is an amazing website to study from for anything math related. It belongs to my calculus teacher from highschool. The head of the city's math department. He's got university professors in the u.s. using his lesson plans o_O Anyway, he's by far the best math teacher i've ever seen, and his study notes are superb.

Ezzy had Math Teaching Methods course. And if I don't get an A on the final project, I fail the course.

Math Teaching Methods < Math

I can do math, I'm just not good at teaching it...
