There's a little white porch,
And you wanted it so.
Can you let me go down,
To the end of the road...

`So.... Yeh... Here we go...
My hallway is small, maybe about 7 - 9 feet from the kitchen to my room, which is the end of the hallway. The bathroom is about a foot from the kitchen down that hall, then across is a bedroom.
It happens in the night mostly, but it also happens when it's me and my brother, or just me. It's happened once while my parents were hom in the day.
The recent is I walked to the watercloset[hehe] to piddle, and I did. Then when I opened the door, instant cave darkness. Granted it was 3 am, and there's no windows in the hall (there's also a window RIGHT in the kitchen with a light shinin' through it from a street lamp) but, still. I couldn't see ANYTHING.
So I stand there, frozen (I don't run when scared, I stiffen and freeze.). Then it went away suddenly, I didn't even blink... So I don't think it was my eyes adjusting, since I can still see a little when that happens.
Anyways, I turn down my hall to my room, and get this instant panic. I needed to run, fast, there was soemthing there. But I didn't, I walked slowly, but really stiffly.
This also happened in the daytime when my parents were home. It was about 2:2o pm or so, and my boyfriend was also there. I sorta ran out of the bathroom, terrified, but played it off as a spider (ick).
So I think something chases me down that hallway sometimes, or something is reaching out to me, and I'm taking it in a wrong way. I don't know, do you have any suggestions?

Also, I have a phobia of seeing things in reflections that aren't supposed to be there, so I'm terrified of windows and mirrors... Is that abnormal?

In the black and the white,
A Technicolorful life,
Can I stand by your side?
We can make it alright,
Like home,
'Cause I'm home...

It may not be what's effecting you but I sometime suffer blackouts and slightly panic attacks (when I blackout) when my iron levels get low; everything goes black for a few second and feel like I'm falling which causes me to panic. It normally happens if I get up too fast, so that something to think about.

I also get the feeling of being chase, mostly when I'm going down stairs I just want to run down them. The best way I've found to get over it is to have something (anything) that you feel protects you. Personally I used my Celtic cross necklace as I alway have it on. When I start feeling nervous or scared I play with it and I feel better.

As for your phobia, I've heard theories that phobias we have now come from past lives. It's possible something happened to you that scared you. For example, being a maid in a grand house and maybe breaking a mirror. You may have been punished badly for it and now you're scared of breaking another one so stay away from them.
Although I'll admit it's a strange one.

I know how you feel, I have exactly the same problem. The hall from my bedroom to the bathroom isn't that long but we have a large desk on it; it's easier to side shuffle along sometimes rather than bruise your hips ^^;

Sometimes when I'm walking along there I'll just get a feeling of "I have to get away from here now" and end up sprinting to my room. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately if you look at it that way) I usually get that feeling going down the stairs. Never going up oddly enough, always down. I'm not sure what causes it but I don't have that problem anywhere else.

Yah! I get that feeling in my kitchen. We have a big kitchen that, when you look out the huge slideing glass door, looks out over the side yard and up the gently slopeing hill to the graveyard at the top of our hill about a 1/8 a mile away. Just a 5 minute walk. Whenever I'm in our kitchen I feel like something watching me intently and I have to run, now! But I dont deal with it as well as you guys... I usually do just what my insticts tell me to and run through the living room, out the other sliding glass door, across the deck, through the yard, out the gate, passed the lilac bushes, and into the foest. Ususally down the closest deer trail. And I usually dont stop untill I'm halfway down the mountain and the feelings gone. This is why me just suddenly leaveing the house or disapearing doesnt bother my family. Today I was gone for a few hours and nobody noticed... sweatdrop But I just feel this twisting pull in my gut, telling me that I have to move. Fast. NOW. Sometimes I try to control myself, and I end up anxious, twitchy, and scared. Not to mention the head achs. Wow... my door just opened... scared the crap out of me...! This is why I normally just run. Nobody cares and they dont mind if I'm not there, so it seems like the best thing to do.

Ohlordie, I too have the same problem. Hallways at night have always freaked me out. I feel like something is following me, so I end up half-bolting to my room and quickly slamming the door shut. Sometimes the door won't budge, and I get a disturbing image in my head. I always have to turn on the hallway lights during the night, but that doesn't always help. Isn't it weird that hallways happen to be a popular place for strange activities and "bad feelings"? Hmmm...

That sounds like it could be paranormal, or it could be not. Really most the time its a fine line, and this is brushing... maybe the street lamp went out? Maybe it was a ghost. I often get bad feelings and the sence of someone following me- but I atribute that to me being paranoid (which I very often am) I cant really say what this is. I just hope you can figure it out.

I get that feeling as well at my cousins. You see, my cousin has a small apartment house and theres a dining room you need to go into to get to the bathroom. The bathroom is just around the corner of the dining room. Everytime I go into the dining room, I get that eery feeling something is trying to get me. I have to run into the bathroom really quick just to get away. At times I get that feeling in the bathroom, too.

I get it at my house as well. And once again, the same place. In the dining room. I have to close my eyes and rush to the kitchen and turn on the light just to get away from it. Strange thing is that its only inside at times. Its mainly outside. Like somethings looking in and watching me closely just waiting to get me.....and when it gets the chance it doesnt.

Just to get this out there- one reason for the bad feelings in small hallways may simply be a sort of claustrophobic reaction. However it is of course possible for the hallway to be haunted.

Strange thing- I've heard a very similar story to yours somewhere else a while ago, but whoever was there moved out of the house. It started off with occurrences like the ones you describe, but things escalated to creepier things including the bathtub overflowing when no one was home. Aparantly they finally had to move out when someone in the family was grabbed an shook within an inch of consciousness. Not saying it's he same house or anything like that will happen, but putting the story out there.

I get that feeling a lot of times too. I don't think its paranormal because a lot of people have had it happen to them. I could possibly be that your body is not balanced and your not eating or slpeeing enough. Its your bodies way of saying do something NOW. If your not getting enough vitamins that happens.

It could also be something that is paranormal. Like a world-wide string of ghost that want to make everyone suffer like they do. It could be either one. I personally think it's just a chemical inbalace though. smile

thats happened a few times to me. like, lately i haven't been able to sleep in my room very well. i keep feeling like someone or something is has been watching me. so tonight im going to try to talk to whatever is there, because it dosent feel angry just lonely. think about what the presence feels like. if it feels like it wants to hurt you then theres a reason to worry if not then then figure out want it wants. once you know it should be easyer to deal with.

It could possibly be a physiologic reaction of the body to enclosed spaces. and sometimes, it might be our mind playing tricks on us. But even here in the Philippines, hallways are also a source of paranormal activity. Funny that it always has to be a hallway. hehe. Anyway, maybe our reaction is a mixture of a normal bodily response to a negative energy welling up in narrow hallways.
