Let's pretend that in a parallel universe, the Red Dwarf movie was actually being made. (Or our Red Dwarf comic! biggrin ).
You receive an emergency phone call from the studio. The directors are panicked. One of the key stars has dropped out, and they need you to fill in.
So tell us- who are you (either one of the real characters, or make up a new one.) What is your role?
I'm in the movie, but not as one of the regular characters. I'm a skutter. This allows me to keep an eye on the entire crew, while I also get to watch a lot of John Wayne movies. But why would a skutter want to keep an eye on the crew? A spy, or an unexpected protector?
Haven't developed that idea yet. Maybe after I see what your role in the movie is, I can decide what my skutter is really up to.

I'd probably be Lister. I have the whole laziness thing going for me, but I can do work if I have to. I also have the slob thing working, since whenever I eat stuff, if I ever get any food powder (cheetos) or stuff like that on my hands, I either lick it off or just wipe my hand on my pantleg. I dislike health food, but not with quite the passion of the real Lister. I can appear to be aloof, but I'm really a good guy at heart.

Sounds like you would be a perfect Lister!
I was a Lister type once, but now think I am a nice combination of Lister, Rimmer and Holly. That's why in the movie I want to be a skutter. I couldn't do any of the main characters justice.
If I had to pick one of the main characters, it would be Holly. If only I had the quick, razor sharp wit in real life! biggrin

I was always more partial to the regular male version of Holly. Hilly is cool, too, but seems to have kind of a blanked out look on her face a lot of times. Holly, on the other hand, often looks like he knows something no one else does.

I'd like to be Candy, another GELF character they encounter who keeps all the boys happy. 3nodding Except maybe Holly. Sorry Hol, can't really make a computer "happy."

I could probably play Hilly. I can get really spacey sometimes.
On the other hand, if we're allowed to take ideas from other sci-fi series, I would totally be a Companion. Well, except for Kryten. I draw the line at robots. xd
