The sun shone down pleasantly during the quiet morning hours. It was quite the lovely day in the Southern lands, warm and clear, with only a few fluffy white clouds dotting the sky. The adolescent was enjoying the cheerful weather, and he stopped at the edge of a meadow, taking in a deep breath. Having recently wandered in from the North, for a change of scenery, Hirsh did regret the choice at all.

The antlered male began to moved onto into the long, soft grass, letting the sun soak into his soft brown fur. He felt a light twinge of hunger in his stomach, but the sun made him lazy, and the pang wasn't urgent. Hunting was always fairly good in the south, and he would take his time with it.

Burune moved lazily through the grassy meadow, staring through half-lidded eyes at the clear sky. It was such a lovely day, and he was quite enjoying the mild weather. It was a perfect day just to lay in the sun and warm one's fur, just a good day to do nothing at all. A nice lazy day.

Buru smiled at he idea of doing nothing for a day, but he hadn't taken a break in his wandering yet and found no real reason to do so now. He slowed his pace slightly, staring ahead at one of the most curious sights he has ever seen. Ahead was another wolf, not the most amazing sight except this one sported a pair of pronged horns on it's head. He stopped and closed his eyes, thinking perhaps it was a trick of the sun, but when he opened them again nothing about the wolf has changed.

Hirsh continued to move until he had neared the center of the meadow, when he heard a little squeak under his paw. A little field mouse, scurrying to get away. He let it slip past, not really wanting to take such a small morsel when he knew he could find better.

The presence on the alpha went unnoticed to the adolescent for some time. Burune was so well camouflaged that the soft golden grass rendered him almost invisible, still being some distance away from the younger wolf. He yawned big, and shook himself, only then catching the scent of the other wolf, causing him to cast glances about with renewed alertness. He finally spied the bigger adult, and peered over at him, turning to face him. "Good morning!"

Brurune found himself going unnoticed by the younger wolf for some time, and was actually quite glad for this. In his seemingly hidden state within the grasses he watched the other male, studying the curious horns carefully as he wondered if they were real. It was a bit odd for a wolf to have horns, was it not? Perhaps they were just somehow tied on.

When finally the other had noticed him he found himself moving forward, a friendly but distant smile on his face. Naught but a few feet away he nodded to acknowledge the adolescent, but found his gaze still glued to the strange horns atop the brown wolf head. "Uhh, and a good morning to you as well.

Hirsh began to amble over, a little smirk upon his maw at the strange expression on the big spotted male's face, and the staring. He had long grown used to that sort of thing, and he disregarded it, stopping some distance from the male.

"Thank you kindly. My name is Hirsh...may I ask yours? I apologize if this is your territory...I am merely passing through." he said, perhaps lying a bit. He knew Southerners were a great deal friendlier than Northerners, but he was always as polite as possible. This particular wolf looked a little bigger than an average gamma.

Burune quickly dropped his gaze when he had realized he was staring, his ears swiveling back in embarrassment at himself.

"Ahh, my name is Burune." He quickly righted his stature, ears perking forward as he addressed the other wolf in a friendly manner. "I am just passing through myself, so this territory isn't mine, though I do not know who's it may be."

Hirsh chuckled softly, used to being stared at. It had never really bothered him. Inwardly, it was amusing to him, as a form of attention. His luxurious, fluffy tail switched as he sat down.

"A pleasure to meet you, Burune. I didn't even see you at first, what an exquisitely camouflaged coat you have..." he said, eyeing the spotty coat. At the next comment, he nodded lightly. "I see. Just making sure. It seems that there aren't many occupied places, lately, after the war and all." he mused, somewhat glad. Some packs didn't like it when you hunted on their land.

Burune's attention shifted then, for a moment, to the other's tail. Another unusual thing about his Hirsh's appearance, a tail like none he had seen before. He was curious if there were others with such strange appearances, surely this could not be the only one, right?

Burune sat as well, glancing for a moment down at his coat. "Yes, I suppose it does blend in well around here." He ran his gaze over the golden grasses, wondering quietly how many other places there were around here with such a ice color of grass, mulling over the idea of finding himself a place like it to take as his own.

He left his thoughts with a nod of agreement at the other's comment. "Yes, I haven't yet found myself in another's territory, or at least not knowingly. I'm sure more places will be taken once thing's start to build back up and packs form again."

Hirsh grinned quietly as he felt the other's eyes on him once more, and he let him look without saying anything. Hirsh was also somewhat proud of his different look, though it had given him some trouble in the past.

"Oh, very. You're just as golden as the grass." he said, grinning slyly. Of course, the grass would not have to be golden to fool prey. Even the dappled coat would help to trick unsuspecting food animals.

"I see...where do you live, then, if I may be so bold to inquire?" he asked, wondering if the big wolf was alone, or if he had had a family. As dark as he felt about it, part of him liked that many places in the South were quiet, and uninhabited.

"As golden as the grass." Burune chuckled softly as he looked at the grass swaying around them. "Well I suppose I could disappear in a sea of gold if I wanted to."

At the question he shook his head, turning his attention back to the other wolf. "No family that I am aware of, though perhaps a pack one day of my own. Mainly why I am now wandering, to find a place I find suitable. What about you, have you a home or family, if you do not mind my asking."

Hirsh smiled coyly, his emerald eyes shimmering with a playful light. "Indeed you could." he agreed, and sighed softly.

"I thought you looked big enough to be a pack leader. Have you ever lead one before?" Hirsh asked, curious over the other's life before the war, but too polite to ask directly. "Myself, no...everyone I knew has perished in the war. I'm sort of...looking for a place to stay, myself." he said with a sly grin, shifting slightly. "Sort of. I do like to wander around a bit..."
