Lucky was feeling pretty darn lucky. He'd just been taken to the groomer's by his human, where his fur was washed, his nails were trimmed, and he was given a big crunchy doggie-biscuit. Then his human companion took him home and gave him belly rubs. So he was looking as wonderful as he felt as he strolled into the park on that warm afternoon.
He was hoping his luck would continue. He hadn't been out in a while, having been home with his owner while she'd been sick and bedridden, and he'd tried to help her out as best as a faithful companion lacking opposable thumbs can. She trailed not too far behind him, keeping an eye on him while enjoying the nice day. She seated herself on a bench and watched Lucky pad off into the taller grass of the park.
