Well... as you all probably know... I like to "fix" things... Unfortunately, this doesn't always end well...

Well, on my car, the top part of the dash separated from above the instrument panel, so that there's a separation running along there... And I got tired of looking at it...

So, finally fed up, I grabbed a can of spray glue, and some super glue, and weights, and set off to fix it, once and for all... I thought.

Though there were parts the glue really didn't work, for the most part, it held... though I wouldn't leave it the way it is... Anyways, that's not the bad part... no, see, the spray glue "ran" or "dripped" or whatever, along my dash... specifically on some plastic parts.

No biggie, I thought, I figured that I'd just get me some acetone and take the glue offa the plastic. Well... come to find out, the plastic was painted. Anyone who's worked with acetone knows that "acetone is to paint as acid is to... lots of stuff."

Bah... it didn't get to far... and all I have to do is remove the plastic pieces that got stripped, and repaint 'em... I got spray paint, so no biggie so far... right?

Well, see, in order to take the pieces out that need to be painted, the radio has to come out... Not supposed to be a hard thing to do... just two U-shaped tools (or bent coat hangers) in the sides, and "pop, it's out."

...

Ha. Ha ha.

THE ******** PIECE OF GODDAMN s**t REFUSED TO ******** BUDGE! ._. I've tried, and tried and tried...

I even tried "impact therapy"... involves hitting the area around it to try and make it pop... (er, actually, it was Sibby getting pissed enough, that he hit the dash... alot. I walked away a couple of times... argh... I really need to learn how to control my temper... can't always walk away. ._.) The dash around it didn't do anything... but Sibby's hand on the other hand... hurts.

I'm not sure how I can still type... it's not pleasant... Oh well.

Now, I'm just debating whether I should use a hammer or a crowbar to take the radio out... stare

Okay, maybe the radio's worth a little too much for me to do that... but still... it's going to come out... one way or another... THE ******** PIECE OF ******** s**t THAT NEEDS TO ******** DIE WILL ******** GET THE ******** OUT OF MY DASH SO I CAN ******** DO WHAT ******** NEEDS TO BE ******** DONE...

Can you tell I'm pissed? ._.

Anyways, I'm done for now... I'll have to figure it out tomorrow... x_x

Is it bad if I lol'd?

I mean really.

Chain of events.

I WANNA MAKE BREAD.
But I need flour.
To get flour, I need to get a sickle.
To get the sickle, I need to kill old man John.
To kill old man john, I need a gun.
To get a gun, I have to steal one.
To steal one, I need skill.
To get skill, I have to join the police force.

BUT I WILL GET MY BREAD.

Best of luck to you Sibby. <3

AWW, poor Sib and his mother ********, piece of s**t radio that won't ******** come out.

I'll be the first to offer his face, if you need to punch something, it's here.

I will laugh my BALLS off if the radio is like held on by something different like you need to pry from the top and the bottom and both sides to get it out, and it's REALLY simple, like monkey simple. You'll have yourself a good old fashioned, downright fit of laughter.

Aren't some radios bolted into the dashboard?

I did a quick google search out of curiosity on how to remove to car radio and they each said something different. Hope you figure it out after you calm down some.

I've got instructions... I found 'em BEFORE I started this...

http://www.tauruscarclub.com/wiki/index.php/1996_-_1999_Gauge_Cluster_Removal_(Column_Shift_Only)

the part where it shows the "bent hangers" in the radio... then hold 'em to the sideish and pull it out...

It says that "the radio should come out easy."

Ha.

._.

lol @ taurus. my sister had one of those, and it eventually just died. it was a ******** piece of goddamn s**t, too. xD

if all else fails, get the hacksaw and cut that b***h right out of the dash. you can just glue it back in when you're done, right? :D

Ditto.

Sadly things don't just get stuck in a car. I have this old tape player/recorder. And it always catches my tape, I have to pick it out with screwdrivers and chopsticks and crap.

That sucks. But if you do choose between a hammer and a crowbar, go for the crowbar. If it can kill head-crab zombies, then it can get the radio out.

Well... I figured the hell with it... and decided if buying the "professional coat-hanger tool" would actually work... only 4 bucks where I work...

I mean, I really didn't think it was gonna work... I didn't know why my coat hangers weren't working...

Well, I take 'em out to my car, put 'em in... and it slides ******** almost wanted it not to work, so that I could say that I hadn't wasted my time... So now, I'm hating myself for not buying the damn thing when I started, instead of wasting an afternoon ******** with the ******** stereo.

._.

But, at least it's out... and the rest of the dash tear out (er, what I wanted to tear out) went nice and smoothly... Now I just need to get me some paint... o.o

^__________^

And actually, it's a Mercury Sable... It's almost the same thing as a taurus though... but, it's actually a halfway decent car in my eyes... o.o

Runs great, has a nice audio system, and doesn't look half bad either... o_o

And trust me, for the little trouble a car gives you, it's totally worth it... just for the fact that I can get to work and back, let alone school, and whereever the hell else I want to go.

Just... ******** GAS! Least my car's not bad on gas... especially not like the old 72 Chevy pickup I had... @_@

Well... I was looking into paint today, where I work...

Since the pieces I'm painting are plastic, I needed something that would work on plastic...

I had a choice between Krylon Fusion, and Krylon Wrinkle coat. Fusion is made SPECIFICALLY for plastic, whereas the Wrinkle coat will work on a bunch of stuff (inc. plastic). Both were black, but the Fusion was a gloss (I think) and the Wrinkle coat... was flat? Semi-gloss? Iono, but it has a wrinkle effect if done right...

After asking around for advice, and whatnot, I settled on the Wrinkle coat... Figured it would shine the sun into my eyes, and would look cool...

Got it, but didn't have a chance before I went to work the next time... and there was a guy there who almost does this stuff for a living, and I asked him what he thought... He said that he had NO luck with the wrinkle coat, but it would be a nice black coat (er, with the proper prep done).

Bah. Oh well, I figured I'd just go with it... So I got home, set everything up... figured I'd TRY and follow the directions to make it do it's wrinkle thing, but not be disappointed if it (probably) didn't.

So, I spray it on, like it says, and go do something before I have to come back for another coat...

I come back out and look at it...

...

Holy s**t. ******** awesome. Period. n_n

Not only did it wrinkle great.. it did much better than I thought it ******** awesome.

So, I got it drying now (it needed thick coats to work right), and hopefully by tomorrow afternoon when I get off work, I can put the pieces back into my car.

It will look ******** awesome.

And it feels ******** awesome.

It's ******** awesome.

>_>

n____________n

It is better now than before I ******** up my dash with the glue... ******** AWESOME. n_n
