There is this music teacher at my school who will not tolerate any music apart from jazz. Every other genre he has some stupid opinion on or throws it away with out listening. Eg. The one time he played us a song that wasn't jazz, he played us a sting song and at the end said,
"This isn't one of sting's better songs." and that was it. end of discussion.

He also thinks that all guitarists are arrogant and play too loud... of course i like learning all the jazz history but it gets tiresome when u do it 2 hours running.

we've even asked him if we can bring in some of our own music to class which would be a good idea but of course we keep listening to his collection. The class is supposed to be about recording and his music is boooring.

ok, finished ranting...
what should i tell my narrow minded teacher?

I always thought drummers played to loudly. I admit you should never talk to a guitarist with a guitar in their hands (unless it is face down on their lap, and unplugged from any possible amplifying .. thing) because they will NOT sit still.
Also, what about John Scoffield, have him listen to him for a bit. CRAZY he is

Bring in a CD and say its your most favourite jazz cover in the world (say its rock or metal or something)

Jazz is incorporated into all different kinds of music. blah blah blah.. this is an example
Hendrix is a great example for that.
