Obitsu....? Resin or plastic - Anyone know? [Solved!]

Has anyone gotten, or know anyone who's done any Obitsu dolls?

I found a head I like and want to try a faceup on, but it doesn't say what it's made out of, and the "English" version of their site has very little english on it... sad

they're vinyl, so yes- plastic. vinyl absorbs pigments easily, so you'll definitely want to coat the head you're working on with something like msc before starting, especially if you're using acrylics.

Just an fyi, vinyl gets dirty very very easily and stains horribly compared to resin. Coat the face with lots of MSC or Dullcote, and have a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser for the body. Dark clothing will stain the body badly if you aren't careful. Volks offers a white skin tight body suit for under the clothes for their Dollfie Dream line (also vinyl).

Bleck... >_< Oh well, good thing I checked first then... I've done 2 outta 3 of my dolls faceups, but they've all been resin. Vinyl... no thanks... Not my thing... sweatdrop

mm, it depends on what you're trying to do, i guess. i've only ever tried to use a tiny electric sander on a volks dollfie plus- its vinyl was much softer than both my girls' resin. a dremel would probably be easier for making holes and such in vinyl, since that vinyl's got more give.
