Return of the Rooftop Match

After winning a battle royale to become the number 1 contender for the Undisputed Championship at Wrestlemania, Shawn Michaels made it clear that his sole mission in XCW was to win the gold one last time. The mind games with Zarel started even before he'd actually won the battle royale, as he attacked Zarel's tag team partner, cartwright, on more than one occassion. Unable to get his hands on the champion at Hellfire due to the champion's turn on XCW, Shawn Michaels had one opportunity before Wrestlemania to do so. The XCW Chairman, Jarel Damone, sought to teach his twin brother a lesson, having been less than pleased with the way Zarel defends the title. As such, Zarel was double booked, first to kick off Impact with his number 1 contender in HBK's specialty match, the rooftop match. Due to the nature of this match, there have only been 4 in XCW's history including this one, and Shawn Michaels has been involved in 3 of the 4. He was involved in the very first rooftop match in which he won the XCW World Heavyweight championship, his first championship in XCW.

The rules of a rooftop match are simple. You knock your opponent off the roof to win. Of course, this is easier said than done, especially given the size and strength advantage all of Shawn Michaels' opponents have had in these matches. Zarel has proven to be quite dangerous in no holds barred environments, but Shawn Michaels is a legend in the business, and has made a career out of defeating the giants of the business. The stipulation riding on this match was that the winner would name the match type for their title match at Wrestlemania.

Little did Zarel know, Shawn Michaels had reunited with an old friend and former tag team partner, and this one hit quite close to home. Zarel's younger brother, Brandon Damone, made his presence felt as he aided Shawn Michaels to knock the champion off the roof, therein allowing HBK to name the match type at Wrestlemania.

Shawn: You know, it felt pretty good to shock everyone again. I mean, after all the wars me and Brandon have had here over the Cruiser title, who would've thought we'd team up again to reform DX?

Brandon: I'd bet most people had forgotten that we were tag team champions together in EEW, where we beat Zarel and Kane to win the titles.

Interviewer: So can you explain what brought this about?

Brandon: It's fairly simple. You see, the Damone family prides itself on not only being champions, but defending out titles decisively. We don't believe in DQ finishes. Jarel summed it up pretty well when he said Zarel was disgracing the family. So to prevent our name from being tarnished any further, I agreed to help Shawn out. I think we all want the title off my brother.

Interviewer: I take it there won't be any heartwarming reunions of the Damone clan anytime soon.

Brandon: Wouldn't count on it. Jarel and Janelle are retired, and Zarel and I definitely don't see eye to eye. At Wrestlemania, I'm going to do the family name proud when I beat Michael Phoenix fair and square in the middle of the ring.

Interviewer: So, Shawn, what made you decide on an ironman match?

Shawn: It's another match that I made famous and I'm too good at it to lose. I promised Zarel that I'd take him to the top of the mountain. I promised him that he would get everything he needed. I'm going to give him the Showstopper, the Headliner, the Main Event, Mr. Wrestlemania. And a 60 minute ironman match is the best way to do it. On the grandest stage of them all, I'm going to be the one Rollin' on through Zarel to yet another World championship.

Brandon: In closing, this public service announcement is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind you that if you're not down with DX walking out of Wrestlemania with the gold, then we've got two words for ya!

Brandon & Shawn: SUCK IT!

Cruiser Division Having Great Problems Heading Towards Wrestlemania

At Hellfire, the XCW Cruiser Champion, Brandon Damone, and his number 1 contender, Michael Phoenix, were allowed to choose opponents for each other the following night on Impact. Michael chose to see a champion vs champion match, pitting Brandon against XCW Television Champion, Adam Mastrocola. Brandon chose to see Michael face off against a legend, The Rock. A 7 time WWE champion, XCW Tag Team, United States, and Television champion, the Rock took offense to this and declared his displeasure. As such, he found himself in an impromptu match against the Cruiser champion, one in which he tapped out, and he was still booked to face Michael the following night.

So we come to Impact. Brandon went out and had his match with Adam, one in which he just barely came out on top with a german suplex pinning combination. The Rock, however, didn't intend to actually wrestle his match. after a few moves, the Rock got himself disqualified and called the two cruisers jabronis that were beneath him. He had an elimination chamber match to prepare for and didn't want to waste time on them. This led to an altercation with Brandon, who was sitting at ringside on commentary, who then challenged the Rock to another one on one match on the new show in XCW, Warzone.

Brandon: You know, I don't know what the hell the Rock's problem is, but he's gonna have to get over it quick. The fact of the matter is, the Rock is just bitter that he hasn't done anything truly defining here in XCW. Sure, he had a few title reigns, but they were all short lived. Then he chased after the Undisputed championship and never won it. I, on the other hand, did win it once. I've had the Cruiser championship for some months now, and I don't intend to let it go. Obviously he doesn't like the fact that I've done alot more around here than he has. I'm sure he thinks he should have just been handed an XCW Undisputed title shot instead. You know, I handed him a golden opportunity to prove his worth against an up and coming superstar, to prove that he could still hang in there with the young guys. Instead he spits in my face. So, I made him tap out. Thought maybe he'd shut the hell up. Instead, he's back in my face. So I challenged him again. Haven't heard back yet. Surely the Great One is scared?

The Champion Retains

Coming off an inferno match with Samoa Dan, Christian Cage unfortunately had no time to celebrate, as he was set to defend the championship against Damien Ace. Damien made a huge tactical error the week before Hellfire when he hit his Four of a Kind Finisher on the XCW Chairman, Jarel Damone. As punishment for his actions, the chairman made his title match a lumberjack match with the entire lockerroom as lumberjacks. This didn't originally seem to work against him, but luck was definitely not on his side.

The most noticable lumberjacks were the Brothers of Destruction, DX, the Rock, Snypa Rifle, and Michael Phoenix. In the beginning, none of the lumberjacks lifted a finger against the competitors, so it seemed that Damien would get a fair match after all. However, the Great One started a great problem when Damien got close to him. He tossed the former champion into the steel stairs and then back into the ring. Having attacked Michael Phoenix earlier in the night and having also pissed off Brandon Damone, he found himself under the attack of 3 men, with Snypa Rifle added in after the attack on his brother. As they beat the Rock up the ramp to the backstage area, Damien and Christian continued their match, and Damien made the mistake of bumping into the Phenom. Perhaps in just a rash thoughtless act, or perhaps to send a message to his opponent at Wrestlemania, The Undertaker laid waste to both champion and challenger, but obviously did a great deal more damage to Damien, as it was Damien who received a chokeslam through the announcer's table while Cage just got one on the floor. When the Phenom rolled him back into the ring, he was unable to get out of the Unprettier and once again, Christian came out on top. Now he can look forward to his Wrestlemania opponent, Adam Mastrocola.

The Brothers Rule the Yard

After Hellfire, the Brothers of Destruction promised to unleash a plague of darkness on XCW the likes of which had never been seen. On Impact, we saw the return of Paul Bearer, who is to lead the new Ministry of Darkness just as he did the original in WWE. The difference this time is the uniting of both brothers, Kane and the Undertaker. Kane has even donned his old mask in what the Undertaker says is his schooling to the true ways of darkness. Their first act was the claiming of two victims, Zarel Damone and Cartwright, the tag team champions that had screwed them out of the titles before.

The odds were definitely not in the champions' favor. They were set to defend the gold in a no disqualification tornado style tag team match against the two most dominant men in this company's history. From the opening bell, the two were schooled in the error of their ways, as the Undertaker and Kane dominated in the early goings. To their credit, the champions fought back, but the Brothers of Destruction didn't earn their name by laying down. The regained control, even delivering double last rides to the champions off the stage. Then it was time to deliver an excessive amount of punishment to Cartwright, who they singled out and took back down to the ring. Zarel eventually got back into the fray, but as soon as it looked like they might actually retain the titles honorably, two more adversaries made their presence felt.

Zarel it seems, had forgotten about his altercations earlier in the night with Shawn Michaels and Brandon Damone. The two Degenerates made their way to the ring and took the champions down, sending a message to Zarel before Wrestlemania. The Brothers rose again and delivered devastating chokeslams on the steel stairs to pick up the win, and capture the tag titles for the first time together in XCW. And even with a battle royale pending for their newly won gold, the Brothers insist that their Ministry will prevail. and the Undertaker has promised a sacrifice at Wrestlemania.
