The sun beat down upon a golden plain of tall grass stretching on for what seemed forever. Few clouds graced the sky to shade those below from the spreading heat. Birds chattered aimlessly as they bobbed and weaved, scattering hidden morsels to the skies.
It was beautiful in an odd sort of way. Though the young pup took no notice of the silly little creatures and their game; oh no he was lost in his own. Tall grass shuffled here and there as Sariot dodged along in the thick of it. Happy sort of yips and barks sounded over the bird song as the blades tickled at his soft belly. It was endless, this little game he found and it was simple.
All one had to do was lift up onto his hind legs, drive his forepaws hard to the soil and a funny little long and green thing would buzz off in fright. The blue pup had been doing it all morning, chasing the thing to this very spot. He was beginning to grow tired and hungry but there was no way he could quit now!
"Come out, Mr. Hoppy." He barked out cheerfully stamping his paws on the ground.

Fëa moved with careful precision through the tall grasses of the Southern plains. Her golden coat blended well with the grass, but her tail would give her away, although it would be more mistaken for a bird as it portrayed peacock markings.
She suddenly paused as she heard movement and maybe a voice off to her right. Pulling her tail down and close to her body she lowered herself and moved towards the sounds. Peering through the grass she noticed something blue moving and stalked closer only to behold a pup who pounced at the ground.
Her vivid pink eye watched the pup as she held herself still in the grass so not to be heard or seen.

Sariot's paws continued to pound into the ground for several moments until he sat down upon his haunches, shoulders slumped. A disheartened sigh breezed through his muzzle, tail tip thumping against the earth. The blue pup knew the game would end but he hadn't expected to be so soon. He probably wore out Mr. Hoppy as much as Mr. Hoppy did him.
Now he was just lonely and had no idea where he was but then again that was part of the adventure.
Sariot turned to watch the birds flit about in the sky, head tilting to the side in wonderment. All at once his stomach gave a rather ferocious growl as hunger washed over him. That earlier sigh became one of frustration. He scented the air, nose upturned, hoping to find something easy to catch. Maybe he'd find a river with little fishies inside. Oooh he loved little fishies.
He paused and then scented again. There seemed to be someone very near. Blinking he stood to all fours and circled around once, eyes probing the grass. Finding no one his ears flattened against his head and he called out a soft, "Hello?"

Fea held still, her eyes watching the pup carefully. A strong breeze suddenly ruffled the tall grasses and exposed her elegant tail which was half purple with peacock markings on the end. She let off a low growl and shifted her position in the grasses.
Once the breeze died down she stalked slowly out in front of the pup. Towering over him in all her dominate way. "Hello...small pup..."
