Alna had a tickle at the base of her neck, the type of tingle one would get when they're being lied to; but given as she was talking to a fellow drow, the budding priestess was used to it and it quickly became nothing so much as a passing paranoia as Ryn finished his answer. With a laugh far more sincere than she'd ever heard out of any other drow, Alna waved a hand lightly at the male before her.

"Actually, I might have to talk you into tellimg me common blood dust-biter stories someday. It's amazing how incredibly boring the dangerous life of 'the privilaged' can be after some time."

Telling him the truth about her secret admiration for those of lesser power, made the pale drowess feel free and anxious at the same time. How would he handle it, if she told him she was tired of contantly being watched and scruitinised? His mention of his home city, one she'd only heard of in passing, made her that much more conflicted and curious. Daintily taking a bite of her assembled food, she took the break of having food in her mouth to consider what to say next.

"I am not aware of the particular customs of Llurth Dreir," she said slowly. "Tell me, what about the place would force or encourage you to take up the sword in another city?"

... And for anyone with coin, for that matter she thought to herself.

Ryn suspected the manner in which the priestess laughed was meant to test him. Or perhaps it was a ploy to trick him into lowering his guard enough for her to get a better reading from him.

The question he had to mull over, was what was the right answer to this situation? If Ryn allowed his 'defenses' to 'slip' it could make her feel more comfortable with his presence. If he was easily 'manipulated' then she would not have to worry about a betrayal on his part. Yet at the same time wouldn't that prove he would not be a good guard? If he was a fool that could be misled, or was just so lax of a drow, then he would not be a reliable guardian.

On the other hand, if he proved to be too closed and guarded, then she could suspect him of ulterior motives. Not that she didn't already. She wouldn't be a drow at all if she didn't suspect him of something already. Still, if he was cautious she would at least know he'd be diligent in his duties and work diligantly.

What Ryn had to ask himself was...which drow type would she most likely find useful to her?

"I can imagin Priestess. With how careful you must be all the time...well... it does not leave you much room to be adventerous. A life spent with your back pressed to the wall certainly is more long lived. Yet stuck there against the wall does not give you much chance to enjoy all the small things in life. A lowborn such as myself could go into a random bar, get utterly smashed on cheap mushroom ale, and wake up next to a complete stranger. A Highborn such as yourself would have to be worried about some rival house taking the opportunity to kill you, or even blackmail you. Not to mention the scandle it would involve if you woke up next to a complete stranger off the street eh?"

Lifting his drink Ryn flashed Alna the most rougish grin he could manage before take a very deep and purposeful swig.

"Oh...the usual reasons priestess." Ryn carefully replied after setting his cup back onto the table. "A no-body can never make a real place for himself in his own gutter. You have to seek out places where the rabble don't remember you as a half naked child crawling through the muck in order to be taken seriously. Besides. I am not too fond of volcanos. The whole 'burning alive' is quite the turn off. If I am going to end up dead I prefer the traditional blade in the heart."

Alna shook her head and looked ryn straight in the eyes. "You would be surprised Ryn Do'Afin, just how little concern there is with whom I bed." That wasn't entirely true, but it wasn't in the sense that the male had described it. The only concern with Alna's loins and who got to enjoy them was the question of whom would be brave enough to sleep with the obvious proof of Lloth's growing insanity. Of course Alna was also sure the added danger of what happened to any male caught by her sister was a draw as well. With a shiver, and an unabashed longing look at Ryn, reminded the albino of her wish that Ryn would never have to meet her sister. It was the first time in either of their lives that Alna could remember wishing something like that. Jiv was always allowed her secrets, why wasn't Alna? Along with her rebeliios thoughts of not wanting to share a male with her twin, the bitterness of the lack of freedom she experienced at the hand of the other drowess cropped up. It left a sour look on her face.

Then he smiled at her with all the charm of God would have, and she felt the heat rushing to her face. She noticed in slight alarm that this non-embarrasment type blushing was happening in increasing amounts around this male; and it hadn't even been a full day!

Still with flushed cheeks, she silently accepted his answer to her question and smiled upon the end of his speaking. Burning alive? Was that how sacrifices were done elsewhere, or just where he was from? With interest, she rested her chin in her hand and tried to picture it. She'd never seen a volcano, so the image was way off, but she could see the burning of flesh well enough. "Hmm," she mused after a few seconds of inwardly cringing at the mental images of Ryn melting admidst flames, "I imagine I would much rather meet my end by blade than heat." Opening her eyes, she winked at him as her grin grew wider.

Was she...flirting with him? If she was, Ryn was more then willing to play such a game with her. He had never had a realy chance to...involve himself with a female before. In Sshamath his matron had been overbearing and made it impossible for him to even find a maid to have a tryst with. Once he was outside of the city all the females had become...well...undesierable in their arrogance. Ryn fully appreciated the differences between his home and the other citys of the underdark. It was a sad sacrifice he had to make if he had wanted to pursue his own choosen path.

Still, as Ryn took note of the strange pink and red coloring of Alna's cheeks, this female lacked that ugly edge to her that most drow women he had come across carried themselves with. She seemed...well...for lack of a better word...easier to handle. He found this far more interesting then her exotic coloration. A woman he could actually handle? Outside of Sshamath?

Ryn's interest in the food before him waned, so that now he only picked at it while he set his amber eyes upon that pretty pale face. His left hand trailed fingertips over the mouth of his mug while he leaned forwards a touch on the table towards Alna. That smile of his slowly dominating the curves of his lips.

"It is refreshing to meet someone I can talk so candidly with. But this does not ensure that you will hire me does it? I am in a bad position obviously, I need a job. Or at least someone that I can swear my service to in exchange for food, shelter, and other neccessities. The terms of my service are yours to take full advantage of Lady Alna. You could request anything of me right now and I'm afraid I have no choice but to accept...so then....do you want me?"

Ryn waited expectantly. His gaze fixed on her lovely face. Would she blush again? Would so oh so demurely look away? He felt as if, even though his words sounded like a proper servants, that he was in more of a position of influence right now. How was it possible that such a beautiful drowess did not already have a ambitious young drow latched onto her already?

As unpredictable as she liked to believe she was, Alna was in fact not. In any sense of the word, and it seemed like the male before her was already starting to figure that out. With not only a called blush, she also looked away and down at her hands. The movement allowed her hair to cover her face and the lusty look that was filling her eyes. Taking a quiet breath, she controlled her reactions and gazed at Ryn once more. Reaching out a slender hand, she placed pale gingertips to his cheek and smiled. "I suppose it most cases it wouldn't, woud it?" Brushing a stray hair of the male's head away from his face, she removed her hand and placed it back onto the table. She didn't want her hand touching him more than was necessary, but then... Had it been needed to begin with? Letting the thought linger she simply smiled at him.

"Ryn Do'afin, if I couldn't be honest with and around you," she then gently admonished, "how could I trust my life being in your hands?"

Yes, oh yes, she wanted him.

Her response was very... attractive. That was the only word that Ryn could think of. The manner that she looked away from him, only for that moment, set a rapid flutter of want in his chest. Serve her? Yes, perhaps on the outside. But within he wanted more. He wanted to, maybe, possess her? That was a outright ludicris feeling, yet Ryn was a hot blooded drow. He had the same ambitious desire he assumed all males had. To find a female that he might just have the potential to obtain a more equal relationship with... that was possibly more rare then the coloration of her skin.

He did not let his gaze drop once Alna looked back up at him. Nor did he pull away when she reached out her hand towards him. Her fingers felt warm and soft against his firm cheek. His hair played soft through her fingertips, though it lazily flopped near to his cheek again once she released it.

"Then I suppose, Lady Alna..." Ryn dropped his voice a softer tone. He leaned forwards upon the table, his frame resting heavily on his elbows. Should he be so brash? So bold as to try and steal a kiss from her? She seemed so docile. So easily taken advantage of....

"That I am now your guardian." No. Ryn decided now would not be the time for such a...test.... After all. This had the feel of a very good opportunity. He did not want to make a mistake so early in this...game. He needed to know more about Alna. Perhaps this would be more enjoyable then he had first thought too. If she wanted him, then who knew where this would lead him?

Ryn, with his descion made, eased back in his seat. His smile remained fixed in place even as he raised his mug back to his lips for another drink.
