Edward sighed and shook his head, "I just don't want to see you get hurt Aurum, that's all. There's nothing wrong with trusting people, but sometimes you're a little -too- trusting." He wasn't saying she shouldn't trust anybody, especially her family... but Edward had been let down by several people he did love and trust. It was hard for him to trust, especially those he didn't know.

Green eyes crinkled at that notion. Too trusting? If Daddy said she was then it must be true. Softly she sighed, her whole body moving with even that light motion as she turned her gaze to meet the sometimes frightening intensity of her father's golden eyes. "Daddy... how do you know when to trust? I... thought maybe it would be better to meet new kitsu through family but I've upset you. It seemed safer than going to headquarters... meeting someone on my own." Her eyes were large, luminous, and very trusting. If she could not trust her daddy, who could she trust. "I... I can just meet kitsu you okay if you want Daddy... but I want to meet them. I can't stay at home forever. Didn't you tell Mommy she had to get out and experience things?"

Edward blinked at his daughter. Wow.. she was even more grown up than he had thought. Now he was feeling a bit guilty. Again, Edward sighed, "You're right..." he said softly. He couldn't shelter her forever, and she was grown up, even if not completely mature. There were just some things she had to learn on her own. "I'm sorry" he said, shaking his head, "I guess its just hard for me to let go."

His daughter made a sad yet soothing sound and snuggled close, trying to hold Edward tight as if afraid too to let him go. "Sorry Daddy? But... you don't have to let me go! I just want to meet others, but I don't mind if you're the one who introduces us." Aurum got a silly little smile on her face. "Maybe that would be better... then I'd already know you liked them." Ed's youngest giggled softly, teasing her father a little. Then, both teasing and serious, "You didn't answer my questions, Daddy."

Edward smiled a little as his youngest snuggled against him. Honestly, he didn't think there was any boy out there that was truely deserving of his daughter, but well... maybe someone would come close.

He blinked in surprise when she mentioned he hadn't answered her questions. Huh.. he suppose he hadn't. "Well uh..." As far as the trusting question, that one was hard to answer. "I just know... sometimes it takes awhile for someone to earn trust. And yeah.. I told your mom to experience things. She just sat in the house and read books all day! I guess you should get out there too. I -do- trust you... I just worry."

Making a soft purr-like sound Aurum nuzzled her father beneath his chin while managing to be careful not to mess the hair that pulled into her long braid in the process. "Thank you, Daddy. I love you. I'll try not to make you worry anymore." An impossible task perhaps, but Aurum did not like worrying her family. Probably her daddy least of all. He was so strong... to know he was worried, well it was twice as much as mommy being worried.

"But I mean it, Daddy. About maybe you introducing me to kitsu you already like. Maybe... maybe it'll help me learn to tell who to trust. I... know I like to trust first. I guess I want to believe in the good of others. Everyone here that works for, but it's hard to think that outside they're not." She nuzzled him sweetly. "I don't want to disappoint you, Daddy."

It touched him to know that what he thought mattered to her, and he was glad. He embraced his daughter, remembering how lucky he was to have a family... especially this family. "I love you too" he murmured, perking an ear to her other words.

He pulled back and looked at her with a bit of a sweatdrop, "Well uh... let me think on that." Truth was.. he didn't really know very many kitsu that he could introduce her to. "You should meet Winry sometime... maybe when I get my automail worked on." As far as boys though.. he really didn't know anybody he could introduce her to.. yet.

Aurum adored her father's embraces. She loved hugs and snuggles and nuzzles a great deal, but those of Edward's held a special place. Maybe because she could feel on some level how such things had once been quite hard for him.

As he 'thought on it' Aurum tilted her head curiously but with patience. Her daddy probably knew so very many kitsu. At his decision gold point tails wagged happily. "Oh! That'd be wonderful, Daddy! I'd love to meet Winry! Oh! Have you told her about the workshop here? Do you think she'll like me, even though I don't have automail? Oh! I should read up so I can follow her terms, don't you think Daddy?" Though Aurum tended even in family to gravitate to those of the male gender over females she certainly was not against meeting girls any more than she was wanting to meet only guys.

He laughed at her enthusiasm and a grin broke out on his face. "Naw.. I haven't told her about it yet." They hadn't had much time to talk really. "Of course she'll like you! And sure, she'd probably like it if you knew more about what she does." Edward gave his daughter a kiss on the forehead and grinned once again, "You should probably practice your magic and alchemy first though, and then maybe we can both go out and meet some people." Plus.. that would give him some time to have a chat with Wade.

Giggling at her own enthusiasm Aurum nudged her father's shoulder with her nose before resting her head on her paws to look at him. "Well... you should." Again that almost teasing ring to her gentle voice along with a trace of 'ohmygosh I'm teasing my Daddy!' shock and wonder. Her gold swirled white face lit up happily, eyes lightly closing to feel Edward's fatherly kiss before opening once more. "Okay, Daddy. I was going to study anyway."

Her tails swayed happily, her petite body vibrating lightly with barely contained excitement. She was going to go out and meet new kitsu with Daddy! For the first time... Aurum was worried she would have a hard time studying. She was just so excited!

Edward smiled, "Okay.. I'm going to go talk to someone, but I'll be back." After all.. it would be less distracting for her to study if he wasn't there. He couldn't answer her magic questions anyway.. only her alchemy ones, and she could ask anything she wanted when he returned.

With a final nuzzle to Aurum, Edward then hopped down from the lounger and moved to the door to go track down Deadpool.

Aurum gave a soft happy purr-like sound as she returned the short nuzzle. She really was a daddy's girl, thankfully though not as her mother had been. When her father jumped down she snuggled over onto the spot he had already warmed, letting his scent there comfort her. Then in an unusual act of laziness Aurum reached for her wand. Normally she would peruse the shelves herself... but she was comfortable.

Floating an alchemy book from the shelves beside her Aurum flipped past the opening page -why did they bother with retitling the book inside anyway?- to scan through the contents before starting to read. Even if it reiterated things she already knew Aurum did not want to miss anything new by being hasty. This author might have a different take on things.
