It was before she'd had to go to work that morning that Sin had dropped Luse off at the shop; not because she expected anyone there to babysit him, but because she was more than confident in his ability to take care of himself. She'd even let him take his sewing basket with him, which was bigger than he was - she'd put it on the topmost shelf so he could have all advantage.

Of course once she'd left, he'd found it necessary to look over the place, see what was new, what wasn't, and to just take a good look around. It seemed not too much had changed; as always, it was likely those who had also been born here who had changed, instead of the scenery. But since he didn't have a way to prove that...

Lusiphur crawled back to the sewing basket to open it, and work on a jacket that he had been making for the past few days. It would have been much easier, he mused, if he'd had opposable thumbs, instead of having to hand stitch each and every painful bit using three of his legs to keep a good grip on the needle.

Shiara was at her wits end. She'd added several new pets to her family and between the five new baby fox-like kits and the rest of the household, she needed a safe place where Seb, having just turned real, could pratice his vibration and musician skills. The shop where she had received arsfrom seemed like the only possible solution. So it was with a mildly guilty heart that she dropped him and his bongos off at the shop. "Now remember those patterns I showed you, ok hun?" She set down his bongos in the center of the room and gave him a quick kiss on the head "I've got to get back before everyone else tears the house down, ok?" With that, she practically bolted out the door, eager to return home before mayhem en sued at home.

Seb sat next to his drums, and raised his paws up to the tops of the bongos. He wished he his own drum set to practice on, but regardless, the bongos were the only portable instrument he could play in his current animal state. He beat out a basic rhythm that Shiara had shown him, wishing for hands that could beat them the way she could, using fingers and palms and different angles of the wrist to create a variety of sounds. He heaved a sigh, longing for the day he would grow, but he knew he had to learn to control his talent more effectively first. Triggering a minor earthquake every time he stepped with more than normal force was beginning to annoy him as well as the rest of the household, and so he practiced away, filling the room with a pleasant and soothing beat.

Rogue himself was on his way to the shop, and he slipped in just as Sebastian finished another round of beats. His eyes took in Lusiphur and Seb both, and he drew out his notepad, where he'd been jotting down medical information about all of his fellow Velvets. Now, here was a chance to actually get the CORRECT and COMPLETE information from the sources themselves. Examinations! Getting the two to agree to them, however, was going to prove a bit of a puzzle. A challenge. But Rogue was always up for a challenge. He smiled at Eek, always by his side nowadays, and started forward.

"Lusiphur! Sebastian! How are you two doing today?" he asked, conversationally.

He wouldn't bring up anything about checkups until later. He could wait. But he DID want to get the information soonish. The quicker he completed these records, the better.

"Seb, that sounds amazing. I can't do anything like that. You've got some real talent there."

Not a shallow comment, either. Rogue was musically impaired.

"Luse? Is that really you? It's been a LONG time... and WOW... look at that jacket... Did you do that? All of it? Who's it for?"

Admiration. And he really did. Rogue, for lack of a better term, was an economic disaster. His strengths lie in medicine, science, and art. Not much else.

Lusiphur blinked at the new face, the feline - she had never seen before. He had drums and his - her? - owner was leaving as swiftly as his had as well...nonetheless he stayed high on his shelf and continued with his coat quietly listening to the drums, nearly finding himself swaying to the vibrations he felt so subtly until Rogue arrived.

Then, so easily spotted, Lusiphur was nearly startled. It wasn't that he had been trying to hide of course, simply that he did a lot better in concentrating on his work when others did not notice him. For a moment his words failed him, until he found them again and cleared his throat slightly. "It really is me," he said softly as he took in the rest of the information Rogue was so subtly giving him.

"It has been some time," he agreed. "I'm making it for me," he admitted. It wasn't as if there was anyone else for him to sew for...it was more or less all he did. Hunt and sew.

Well, it seemed he had an audience, he though to himself, his fur bristling a bit with pride. He was always happy to perform for others, Shiara had even gone so far as to say he might end up a singer, once he had a voice to sing with that is. He sensed that she was using the comment as some sort of jibe at him concerning singers and big egos. But ego or no, he knew his heart was in the music, in the instruments. He looked forward to being able to play real drums and maybe even try out electric guitar, but one needed fingers for that.

Though the squirrel, he believed he was named Rogue, had true admiration in his voice, Seb sensed he might have some sort of ulterior motives in the way that he was eying him and the spider that he had addressed as Lusipher. He didn't do much, although his tail did twitch once or twice in mild agitation. He shook his head to clear his mind, and tried one of the more complicated, upbeat rhythms that Shiara had shown him. He still wasn't as fast as she had been, her hands almost a blur, but he was getting better. Despite the slowed tempo, you could tell that this was where Seb was at home at, this was his element.

(( Not posting anything to upset the posting order, just want to keep things going a bit. ))

The spider noticed the cat's fur bristle and wondered quietly what that was all about? He decided not to take care of the agitation the other Velvet showed, knowing that each could have his or her own reason even if it were, say, just a miscommunication or a clash in personalities.

The beat, the movement of the feline made Lusiphur very curious however. He had been exposed to such music before on several occasions, especially with his owner as she was, a belly dance instructor. But to hear it live was always something special even when it wasn't an experienced drummer.

Rogue moved into the place, and sat somewhere out of the way, watching the both of them. Quietly, he took out a notepad, and began writing on it, listening to the beat - tapping his tail in time to it - and wondering why Luse seemed so... was the word 'depressed'?

"How have you two been? It's a pretty nice coincidence to run into you. I was hoping to. You see, I'm trying to make medical files on all the rest of us, and..."

He held up his notepad.

"I sort of don't have a lick of information on either of you - So... Yes, I do actually have an ulterior motive. But it's not a bad one."
PostPosted: Thu Apr 17, 2008 6:36 am

"Medical files? Have you become a doctor, Rogue?" If the question sounded rude Lusiphur certainly didn't mean it that way; in fact, he was serious. If a Velvet could become a doctor then perhaps there was some hope for him to become a real tailor or something else after all...his childhood dream of becoming a lord of darkness seemed far out of reach without The One Ring, but that didn't mean he couldn't aspire to being a leader in other ways.

Taking a moment the spider glanced to the cat, "Sebastian is it? You have a very good sense of rhythm with those drums," he noted gently, "extremely soothing and easy to dance to." Of course Lusiphur didn't know if that was the cat's goal, but having been raised by a dancer it was hard to believe that music would go well without a dancer.

((OOC: just remember guys, Seb is still in his animal stage, just fyi))
Seb wasn't a stranger to doctors, and he knew one thing, no one was sticking a thermometer up his butt. He sat down as though to demonstrate this point, wrapping his tail around himself. He did however note the spider's approval of his music. He nodded his thanks, playing a short, energetic, but almost prideful round of beats as he purred slightly in pleasure.

Rogue shrugged a bit, looking at Luse.

"Well, I haven't become one YET - I just want to be one, and am studying. I even have my own assistant, even though he isn't here right NOW."

He moved over to Luse, and took one leg in one of his paws.

"On you, though... I don't know where to get a pulse - you have so many arms!"

It was an attempt at a joke, and to lighten the mood in the room. He grinned over to Seb, sharing in on the joke, and chuckled.

"All jokes aside though... I really need to examine the both of you. Would you mind, Luse? Seb?"

It had been some time since Lusiphur's animal stage...he wondered idly a moment if he remembered how he had communicated in those days, swaying mildly or brushing his front legs together depending on the reaction he'd wanted to give...oh yes, even if he didn't understand each and every bristle that the cat's fur gave, he understood overall what he or she was saying with their body language.

Lusiphur's work was paused when Rogue pulled his arm into hand and blinked slightly before tilting his head. He wasn't even sure if he had a pulse for Rogue to read...nonetheless he wasn't even sure if he wanted Rogue to know that much about him.

"I don't know. What would the examination...entail?" He was starting to use bigger words now, but that didn't mean he didn't pause before a few of them just to make sure he was using the right one. Yes, that was one of the ones Mal had taught him, and it was used correctly.

Yes, that was something that Seb would very much like to know. If Rogue was going to put anything up his butt, he was out. He wouldn't mind making sure that he was healthy, but he had his limits. He sat, waiting patiently for Rogue's answer.

((not much for Seb to reply to))

"Oh! Well, yes. I sort of expected you to ask me that." Rogue stated, clearing his throat as he read the empty chart. "It would entail me taking your temperatures, pulses, and blood pressure, getting your weight and history, and giving you a general checkup. You know - Eyes, ears, nose, throat, abdomen... all that."

As if he'd sensed Seb's protest, he turned to him, and gave a disarming smile.

"Nothing cold goes anywhere it's not supposed to go. You two are more than intelligent enough that I won't have to resort to vulgar measures to take your temperature."
PostPosted: Mon Apr 21, 2008 6:11 am

"It's not as if we're ferrets," Lusiphur retorted with a cold, unimpressed tone. Sin had been coerced into taking care of a friend's ferrets for about a month before they could be put into a proper kennel, he recalled, and he was there for the first vet appointment. As intelligent as Sin's friend made them sound...well, Lusiphur figured if they were so intelligent they'd have held still and let it get over faster.

"As long as you're being civil, I don't see why I would refuse you," Lusiphur concluded gently. "However, if I become uncomfortable for any reason I'd like to reserve the right to stop the examination. Which doesn't mean if you don't want to, you won't be stopped. It's just me being polite about it."

The funnel spider had hunted more than often enough that he wasn't afraid of a fight; Rogue, however, was a friend and Lusiphur did not want to hurt a friend, so a fair warning was in order.

That didn't sound too bad, and Shiara had to make enough doctor and vet trips as it was, with all the pets she kept. She would probably be very grateful if he could find a way to keep up with his own health. He gave a meow after Luse's was finished speaking in an attempt to say 'that goes double for me'. Even rock stars had to stay fit and Seb was no slacker.
