I've found out, that even if it was to become legal, churchs will not be part of the wedding. They've said that for many states now, so tell me.. what is the point of same sex marriage in America? It's just going to cause bad discussions between everyone, and no matter whether it's legal or not, people will not go with it. I'm not going to sign this for many reasons. I can't say that I'm against same sex marriages, so that's not one of them. But good luck on trying to make it legal, because I highly doubt that it's going to work. Over half of the country dislikes it, so nothing is going to change. So? Do you
need a church to have a wedding? There is such a thing as a civil union, it's how my mother and my aunt got married. And it's how I (if I ever find someone) plan to get married. Besides, I would find myself uncomfortable in a place where they condem what I am and throughout history they've been trying to "change" or even kill people in such a situation.
Plus, things will change and they will always be changing. Just the fact that we've started to talk about this is change itself. The fact that LGBTQ people are starting to get the rights they deserves is change. Ten or twenty years ago you would've been burned at the stake (metaphorically speaking) if you tried to pass gay marriage. In my eyes, the only thing we can rely on in this universe is change.
And on a side note, it's just going to take a really long time. Think about how long it took African Americans to get the rights they deserved, and how there's still change needed there. So it will come, you just have to be patient.
Enough of my ranting, I'm signing! Stupid people here in New York haven't legalized it yet...but one can hope they will eventually come to their senses.
