Mirija had been doing a lot of thinking lately. Not that she didn't usually, but she had recently gotten what she believed to be a brilliant idea. Instead of just wondering and imagining over all those other lands out there that she had heard of, she should go and see them for herself! Of course, she was going to bring her sister along. It'd be a fun girl's outing, she figured.
Now all she had to do was get permission. It was't something she was good at, actually. Normally she just ran with whatever idea she got. But this time she wanted to be careful. She loved her home and though she had an unyielding urge to see the world, she wanted to return. The sea would always have her heart, after all. At least, that's what she thought now.
So she was off to find the king. What better person to tell of her plans and get the go ahead? She certainly couldn't think of one.

Old habits seemed to die hard with the king. Despite the new influx of lions and new duties, Tambuzi would always feel the need to keep walking around his prideland. He couldn't help it, he wanted to see that everything was in order and the everyone was happy. Having the title of 'king', whilst very glamourous indeed, was not about the title itself. Not for Tambuzi.
And it had taken him being thrust into this position to realise it. Tambuzi had changed so much, the result of fatherhood and pridal leadership. He could still be a teenager at heart though.
Today, he was to be found slowly plodding along the water's edge, letting the cool sea wash over his paws and wash away his every foot-step. The rest of him might be blazing hot, but at least his paws could keep cool!

Miri finally spotted him down along the water's edge. She grinned widely and raced to meet him, her steps light as a dancer's upon the sand.
"Yer Lordship!" she called, not really thinking about proper titles. Not that she'd know what to address him as anyway. She loped gamely through the water, loving the feel of the salt water spray against her face. "Can I snatch a word?"

Tambuzi was brought to earth quickly by the sound of a young female's voice cutting over the gentle sound of the lapping waves. A female he knew to be only a bit younger than his own daughter.
"You certainly can, although I can't gurantee my words will behave themselves or let themselves be caught," he chuckled lightly.
Even his sense of humour had aged.

"Clever ya are, yer lordship," Miri complimented with a rougish grin and a twinkle in her young green eyes, "Perfect for a man o' yer station, running things an' all." A bit of honest flattery never hurt, right? Especially when you were wanting something for yourself.
"You ever been out on 'ventures, yer lordship?" she asked curiously, bringing the conversation to head in a round-about fashion.

Ah, flattery. She was either flirting, which he highly doubted considering he was getting a bit grisled in his age, or she was after something. At least thats what he'd learned from his daughters.
"Adventures? Well, I did in my youth. Thats how I found my way back here. Theres a lot to see, the world is a big place...I sometimes think too big, no matter how far I've travelled. Why d'you ask?"

Ahhh! So he had been off around the world too. That should make this easier...he knew what it was like, so he had to know how it felt to want to see it all, if only for a moment. She couldn't imagine living anywhere else but the sea, but that didn't mean she didn't want to visit the rest of Africa and find out what it had to offer.
"Well, ya see, me an' my sis were wanting to go off and see that big o' world," Mirija explained with a smile, "It sounds right 'citin' and pretty and what not. We only want to go for jus' a bit, mind, but we want ta be able to come back home once we're all finished being grand explorers and such."

Tamba thought for a moment over her request. It was perfectly understandable that any youngster and youth would want to see more than their humble pridal home, especially considering that half of their view consisted of undulating blue.
It was always a bit tricky allowing perfectly capable adults to walk away from the pride though, it was a loss of security and hunting numbers. But it would be brutish to deny them an adventure. Besides, they could possibly bring more numbers back with them.
"Very well," he said after a dramatic pause and equally dramatic sigh. And what he said next made him sound like her father. "Be sure to keep yourselves safe. And be careful. The world beyond these sands and waters can be very harsh."
