I finally saved enough money to buy a Gibson Thunderbird 4 string (for those of you who don't know)
I wanted to ask your opinions if I should go ahead and but that or should I buy a good slap bass. I am not sure with bass yet. I do focus mostly on slap then anything else. I just wanted to try something new out.

Go with what gives you the tones you need the most. Thunderbirds have a nice growl, but the pickups may get in the way for slap. Thunderbirds are also pretty heavy. Personally if I was in your position I would go with something like a nice fender american jazz standard OR a musicman stingray or bongo(if you're looking for great slap tone anyway). But hey go with what you're happy with!

Dont get a thunderbird, especially if you like to slap. they deck dive, the tone is poor and they are way to expensive for what they are. Try one out, you'll see what im talking about.

if you like slap, maybe try a warwick, I like how they sound slapped, even just the cheap ash corvette is probably better then a thunderbird. T-birds look cool, and sound prity good, but well just the balance issues. I don't think they are heavy personally. I'd suggest warkwick, or like was said a music man. If you ever get a chance try out an MDkingston, I've hurd they are prity nice.
