I gazed out the window of my classroom, dulled by the goings-on around me, lessons I had heard seemingly more times than my own name. I sighed a breath long take, a wish that something more interesting would come about. But nothing such as that ever happened in this small town city, where it was so safe and so secure. If only people truly knew. I wasn't too sure if I wanted people to know or not. My mind flitted from this thought and those like it around and around until the tedium of the students surrounding me grew great enough in my conscious mind to draw my attention away from the green grass and grey sky outside the walls. A new student had strolled into our midst, her brown hair hiding part of her face and and her movements shy as she brushed it behind one ear. Hm. She held my attention slightly longer than the others but only in small seconds. Another face. What did I care?
I was about to discover how much I really did care and that I may in fact receive my wish.
My eyes flicked to the board in the front of the room. The blue words read," Who knows what can happen..." Most likely a "witty" joke from the teacher. I sighed again. Such an uninteresting life.
The girl took an empty desk near the back of the room and pilled several books on top of it. Beyond this, I could not see her actions out of my peripheral vision.
